We are looking for a Mechanical System Engineer (Senior)

The candidate will operate within a system-level core team and interface with agencies and customers. Strong communication skills, a proactive attitude towards problem-solving, and teamwork are essential. The candidate should possess a solid background in mechanical/structural engineering to define and manage complex mechanical system designs efficiently.

Key duties
  1. Define specific mechanical/structural requirements based on high-level customer needs.
  2. Support concept and trade studies in coordination with System Engineering to inform architectural decisions.
  3. Define mechanical architecture.
  4. Design and analyze metallic and composite structures, considering manufacturability and integration constraints.
  5. Develop and run FEM (Simple) and structural/dynamic analyses to support sizing and design decisions.
  6. Prepare procurement specifications for structural systems and subsystems.
  7. Manage subcontractors for structures procurement, from follow-up to delivery.
  8. Support manufacturing process development and qualification for mechanical hardware.
  9. Assist in hardware integration and final testing.
  10. Contribute to test plans and specifications for static and dynamic mechanical tests.
  11. Collaborate with Quality Assurance on NCRs related to mechanical parts during manufacturing, integration, and testing.
  12. Participate and present in internal and external meetings and reviews.
Skills, experience, and qualifications required:
  1. Mandatory previous experience in space mechanical systems.
  2. Experience managing subcontractors technically and programmatically.
  3. Leadership qualities in managing a technical team.
  4. Knowledge of structural requirements for space stations, satellites, and re-entry vehicles.
  5. Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and techniques relevant to structural/mechanical components.
  6. Experience with analysis tools like NASTRAN, FEMAP is preferred.
  7. Proficiency in hand calculations and engineering judgment.
  8. Knowledge of fracture mechanics and fatigue is advantageous.
  9. Team-oriented mindset and multidisciplinary approach.
  10. Availability to work in shifts if required.
  11. Strong analytical, synthesis, and problem-solving skills.
  12. Excellent English language skills (spoken and written).
  13. Respect for company hierarchy, rules, and discipline.
  14. Ability to work within budget and schedule constraints.
  15. Master's degree in Engineering; SEEDS certification is a plus.
  16. Ph.D. or Master Seed in Space Engineering highly valued.
