Job summary

Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE) in La Spezia, Italy, invites applications for a Marine Operations professional. The role focuses on marine safety, regulatory compliance and operational readiness of CMRE vessels, with hands-on onboard inspections and risk management.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice on planning, SMS implementation and international maritime standards, working closely with MAROPS and external authorities. Fluency in English is required.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional experience in marine operations, vessel operations, marine safety or compliance.
• IMO STCW CoC at Operational level or higher required.
• Knowledge of IMO conventions (STCW, ISM, ISPS, SOLAS, MARPOL) and flag state rules.
• Experience with marine safety, compliance and incident management.
• Ability to assess vessel condition and follow up corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure marine safety, regulatory compliance and operational readiness of CMRE vessels.
• Provide professional advice on planning, risk mitigation and SMS implementation.
• Conduct onboard visits, inspections and readiness assessments with MAROPS.
• Support liaison with flag authorities, classification societies and port authorities.
