Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing manufacturing processes, equipment and systems to enable optimized production efficiency while maintaining focus on cost efficient solutions, sustaining high quality product results, and enabling design for manufacturability in new designs. Provide guidance and support for solving complex technical problems that arise in manufacturing production. Coordinate the orderly transition and installation of new processes and/or methods in accordance with product specifications with a Lean Manufacturing approach.

Roles & Responsibilities

QUALITY

1. Responsible for being familiar with the Company's Quality policies and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Weatherford's Management System.
2. Maintains service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business and continually seeks areas for improvement.

OPERATIONS

1. Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products.
2. Create BOMs and routings for newly released Part Numbers and revise BOMs and routings when processes are updated and/or Lean Manufacturing efforts create increased efficiency of the manufacturing steps.
3. Design and develop manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems at the plant level to improve process capability, quality and manufacturing readiness.
4. Design, develop, test, source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for new or improved manufacturing methods.
5. Identify and develop collaborative solutions for issues within the production workflow such as level loading, production bottlenecks, machine reliability, general production related work flow waste.
6. Make key decisions, resolve issues and oversee projects to shape manufacturing success.
7. Prepare or direct the preparation of Model facility and/or equipment layout and detail drawings in CAD Engineering software.
8. Providing technical guidance for manufacturing activities.
9. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
10. Support the Quoting process and Order Management process by supplying pertinent information as required.
11. Write procedures and reports.

COMMUNICATION

1. Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external.
2. Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports.
3. Collaborate with Engineering department in order to ensure all items (upper level and sub levels) of BOM is entered into Windchill.
4. Collaborate with Purchasing, Category Management and Manufacturing to simulate and assign the manufacturing COGS to parts/product, ensuring accuracy before finalizing.
5. Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to develop, innovate and implement manufacturing technology best practices.

FINANCIAL

1. All employees have an accountability to the organisation to be financially responsible whether they are in charge of a function budget or simply their own expenses.
2. Costs incurred should be within approved budget, processed within agreed time frames & following the relevant financial policy and procedure.
3. Prepare feasibility studies and thorough cost justification for projects.
4. Monitor production output and collaborate to implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Experience & Education

1. Mandatory Mechanical Engineering degree.
2. Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
3. Lean Manufacturing experience or Lean Green Belt/Black Belt certification is advantageous.
4. Knowledge of machine design, welding processes and special processes (coating, grinding, elastomer mfg, painting, bonding, etc.) is preferable.
5. Strong team leadership skills, be a self-starter, innovative and able to work with little or no supervision.
6. MS Office suite software, Excel proficiency, AutoCAD skills is preferred (not compulsory).
7. Understand GD+T and dimensioning.
8. English proficiency.
