POSITION SUMMARY
The Manager, Design Management provides design support on projects, including managed, franchised, and company-owned hotels, ensuring quality control, brand compliance, and operational acceptability.
SCOPE
The Manager, Design Management supports multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.
- Location Requirements: Spain, Italy, or London.
- Language Requirements: High proficiency in English and Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Greek (speaking, reading and writing). Other European languages are a plus.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 50% business travel.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
Pre-signing Project Support
- Assist in coordinating Criteria/Facilities programs for assigned projects.
- Contribute to pre-signing project pipeline tracking and reporting.
- Support the promotion of Global Design Europe and Marriott brands to Owners and Franchisees.
- Participate in site visits/market surveys.
- Assist in providing design reviews and solutions for pre-signed projects.
Knowledge Management
- Maintain working knowledge of brand design, standards and evolving design direction.
Design and Project Management
- Manage assigned project deliverables.
- Assist in managing design consultants and their proposals.
- Provide project design quality assurance support, including plan review and construction observation.
- Address and resolve design-related business requests.
- Assist in developing conceptual design studies and sketch plans.
- Support the selection of building products relevant to brand specifications.
- Provide information and guidance on brand standards to owners/franchisees and internal staff.
- Manage project communication with owners, franchisees, and internal stakeholders.
- Present interior design schemes for approval.
- Report project status to line manager.
- Assist in negotiating and implementing design changes.
- Responsible for own work and contributing to team results.
Financial and Accounting Support
- Assist in managing projects within approved budgets.
- Contribute to fee and expense estimates for Work Orders, DRA/TSA’s.
Owner Relations
- Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial, trust-based business relationships with owners and franchisees to assure customer satisfaction and promote repeat business.
- Represent the department both externally and internally.
Others
- Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
- Comply with Marriott Hotel Holding GmbH and Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Required:
- Minimum 7 years progressive experience in architecture or interior design at a design firm or related field for large commercial or hospitality projects.
- Project management experience.

Education and Professional Certifications
- Undergraduate degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related design discipline.
