Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Design Management provides design support on projects, including managed, franchised, and company-owned hotels, ensuring quality control, brand compliance, and operational acceptability.

SCOPE

The Manager, Design Management supports multiple projects of varying scope and complexity.

  1. Location Requirements: Spain, Italy, or London.
  2. Language Requirements: High proficiency in English and Spanish, Italian, Portuguese or Greek (speaking, reading and writing). Other European languages are a plus.
  3. Travel Requirements: Up to 50% business travel.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Pre-signing Project Support

  1. Assist in coordinating Criteria/Facilities programs for assigned projects.
  2. Contribute to pre-signing project pipeline tracking and reporting.
  3. Support the promotion of Global Design Europe and Marriott brands to Owners and Franchisees.
  4. Participate in site visits/market surveys.
  5. Assist in providing design reviews and solutions for pre-signed projects.

Knowledge Management

  1. Maintain working knowledge of brand design, standards and evolving design direction.

Design and Project Management

  1. Manage assigned project deliverables.
  2. Assist in managing design consultants and their proposals.
  3. Provide project design quality assurance support, including plan review and construction observation.
  4. Address and resolve design-related business requests.
  5. Assist in developing conceptual design studies and sketch plans.
  6. Support the selection of building products relevant to brand specifications.
  7. Provide information and guidance on brand standards to owners/franchisees and internal staff.
  8. Manage project communication with owners, franchisees, and internal stakeholders.
  9. Present interior design schemes for approval.
  10. Report project status to line manager.
  11. Assist in negotiating and implementing design changes.
  12. Responsible for own work and contributing to team results.

Financial and Accounting Support

  1. Assist in managing projects within approved budgets.
  2. Contribute to fee and expense estimates for Work Orders, DRA/TSA’s.

Owner Relations

  1. Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial, trust-based business relationships with owners and franchisees to assure customer satisfaction and promote repeat business.
  2. Represent the department both externally and internally.

Others

  1. Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.
  2. Comply with Marriott Hotel Holding GmbH and Marriott International Hotels Limited Regional Office policies and procedures.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Required:

  1. Minimum 7 years progressive experience in architecture or interior design at a design firm or related field for large commercial or hospitality projects.
  2. Project management experience.

  2. Problem solving & creative solution skills.
  3. Ability to build strong working relationships.

  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Ability to read and interpret architectural, engineering and mechanical drawings.
  9. Proficient in using Microsoft Office, AutoCad, Bluebeam, Adobe, Database applications.

Education and Professional Certifications

  1. Undergraduate degree in Architecture, Interior Design or related design discipline.
