Job summary

Alstom is seeking a Maintenance Technical Support Engineer in Bologna to provide on-site and remote technical assistance for railway signaling systems. The role includes managing warranty obligations and serving as the technical customer interface in global service contracts.

The successful candidate will join the Maintenance and Technical Assistance team within the Services Signalling Business Unit, collaborating with systems and product engineering, installation and supply chain colleagues.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Knowledge of electronic design principles; use of test tools is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of common operating systems and TCP/IP networks.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schemes; team work under stress.

Responsibilities

• System performance monitoring.
• Execution and supervision of HW and SW system upgrades.
• Provide technical expertise with product engineering for bugs or unknown behaviour.
• Provide customer feedback to improve products and meet customer needs.
• Provide training to customer maintenance staff.
• Define and implement Maintenance and technical assistance plans.
• Coordinate and support maintenance technicians on field.
• Support Service in defining maintenance strategy in tenders/offers.
• Cooperate with product engineering on maintainability requirements during design.

Purpose of the Job

The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support to maintenance activities (on site or by remote) on Railway Signalling Systems operated by the Alstomdomestic and international Customers.The role includes the responsibility to be the technical Customer interface in global servicemaintenance contracts and to manage warranty obligations on the projects in the scope of Alstom Bologna beeing theWarranty work package owner in charge of QCD (quality, cost and delivery) KPI.

The position will be part of ServicesSignalling Business UnitOrganization - Maintenance and Technical Assistance team

Network & Links

Internal relationships with other Alstom functions: System and Product, Application Engineering, Industrialization, Supply chain departments, Installation.

External relationships with Customer infrastructure operators and maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The person will be responsible for:

• system performance monitoring;
• execution and supervision of HW and SW system upgrade;
• technical expertise with product engineering in case of unknow bug or unknown behaviour;
• providing Customer feedbackin order to improve products and meet Customer's needs;
• providing training to Customer maintenancestaff;
• definition and implementation of Maintenance and technical assistance plans;
• coordination and support to maintenance technicians on field;
• providingsupport to Service organization in the definition of maintenance strategy in tenders and offers;
• cooperation with product engineering in the definition of maintainability requirements during the product’s design phase.

The position also includes the availability to perform activities outside of the Bologna Alstom site and to be part of the team that support by remote H24 the customer maintenance team.

Educational Requirements

Degree in Electronics Engineering or equivalent.

Degree in Mathematics/Physics will be also considered.

• Knowledge of electronic design principle and methodology
• Basic knowledge of the most common operating systems
• Basic knowledge of the most common net protocols (TCP/IP, …)
• Capability to interpret electric drawings and schemes
• Capability to use test tools (oscilloscope, wave generator, multimeter, etc…) will be a plus
• Knowledge of railways signalling systems and principles will be a plus
• Capability to perform analysis and to relate information from different contexts
• Capability to work in team and attitude to problem solving
• Capability to work in stress and urgency conditions

Experience

At least two years of experience on Electronic/Electromechanical company as onsite or remote technical assistanceis is desirable.

New graduates will be evaluated.

Languages:

• Italian: excellent level written and spoken
• English: good level written and spoken
