We are looking for an AFTER SALES ENGINEER in our site in Bologna.

Purpose of the Job: The main purpose of the role is to provide technical support to maintenance activities (on site or remotely) on Railway Signalling Systems operated by Alstom's domestic and international Customers. The role includes managing warranty obligations within project scopes.

Position in the Organisation: The position is part of the Services Signalling Platform Organisation - Maintenance Team. Hierarchical and functional report to the Signalling Maintenance Manager.

Network & Links: Internal relationships with other Alstom functions: System and Product, Application Engineering, Industrialization, Supply Chain departments, Installation. External relationships with Customer infrastructure operators and maintenance technicians.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Define and implement Maintenance and technical assistance plans;
• Coordinate and support maintenance technicians in the field;
• Provide performance and log analysis;
• Implement structured “return of experience” processes: reporting, statistics, etc.;
• Execute and supervise HW and SW retrofit and upgrade plans;
• Support the Signalling Platform organization in defining maintenance strategies for tenders and offers;
• Collaborate with product engineering on maintainability requirements during product design.

The role also involves activities outside Bologna (25%) and supporting remote H24 customer maintenance teams.

Educational and Technical Requirements:

• Bachelor/Master's in Electronics/Electric/Telecommunications Engineering;
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schemes;
• Knowledge of electronic design principles and methodologies;
• Knowledge of common operating systems (Unix, Windows, etc.);
• Knowledge of common network protocols (TCP/IP, etc.);
• Knowledge of RAM analysis methodology;
• Ability to use test tools (oscilloscope, wave generator, multimeter, etc.);
• Basic knowledge of railway or transportation systems is a plus.

Languages:

• Italian: excellent written and spoken;
• English: good written and spoken;
• French: desirable but not mandatory.

Competencies and Experience:

• Synthesis and related written communication skills;
• Analysis skills and ability to relate information from different contexts;
• Teamwork and problem-solving attitude;
• New graduate or 1-2 years of experience in electronic or electromechanical companies;
• Hardware and firmware design knowledge;
• Experience in on-site or remote technical assistance for Electronic/Electromechanical applications.
