Job Description

Maintenance Technician II

Come join our team as a Maintenance Technician II at Hickory Knoll in Florence, South Carolina!

Hickory Knoll is part of Volunteers of America Services, which serves as the housing and healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America organization.

Maintenance Technician II Job Highlights:

• Shift: 24 hours a week, Monday to Friday, 8am-12pm, On Call as needed
• Pay Rate: $18 per hour

About the job:

The Maintenance Tech II is responsible for the overall maintenance of the property, including preventive maintenance, painting, and repairs inside and outside the property to ensure a safe, attractive, and orderly environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This is an entry-level position.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 6 months of full-time experience in building maintenance
• Proficient in English, with the ability to read and write in English
• Able to follow verbal and written English instructions
• Ability to follow proper safety protocols
• Knowledge of how to turn off water valves and electricity in case of emergency

Skills:

• Knowledge of basic machinery and tools
• Construction experience and/or maintenance of equipment and utilities

Essential duties:

• Make recommendations to the Community Administrator regarding maintenance repairs, preventive maintenance, and property improvements
• Repair and paint the building exterior as needed
• Maintain adequate interior and exterior lighting
• Schedule and expedite work orders
• Maintain a clean and organized storage room
• Capable of using and climbing extension ladders to access roofs, windows, and siding for repairs

• Follow and enforce facility safety rules

• Complete required training
• Be available for on-call work to provide 24-hour maintenance coverage
