Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Maintenance Field Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from statistical analysis of maintenance data flow to deep train knowledge. The position is based in Napoli - IT

Accountabilities
  1. Assure RAM data collection in vehicle service operations, defining data structure according to contractual requirements.
  2. Support Vehicle Management and control configuration changes, ensuring traceability and creating the Maintained Configuration.
  3. Manage infrastructure systems (MRX, PanMon, Gotcha, etc.) to ensure notifications and alerts are received; develop data usage for condition-based maintenance; work towards integration with SAP and Virdict systems.
  4. Provide performance analysis and improvement recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Support S&M Bid & Proposal activities, defining budgets for new bids.
  6. Update spare parts lists based on maintenance plans, RAM analyses, and operational experience.
  7. Conduct Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) for cost-effective maintenance, providing feedback to design and standards teams.
  8. Support troubleshooting and maintenance activities, analyzing technical issues, and suggesting corrective actions.
  9. Prepare technical specifications for depot tools, coordinate with suppliers, and oversee installation and testing.
  10. Provide training to depot maintainers in collaboration with S&M Standard & Training.
  11. Perform failure analysis for warranty issues.
  12. Validate Maintenance Manual and Telediagnostic messages.
  13. Report maintenance, safety defects, operational events, and failures.
  14. Present operating data (RAM data) to the customer.
  15. Ensure maintenance plans are implemented at depots and external sites from commissioning.
  16. Support project activities through on-field analysis, development of procedures, and maintenance optimization.
  17. Support procurement and supplier assessment activities, ensuring quality and safety standards.
  18. Assist S&M Quality control in failure reporting and safety risk assessment.
Required Skills/Knowledge
  • Experience performing the above accountabilities.
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, or Systems Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years in railway vehicle maintenance engineering.
  • Experience in maintenance plan optimization, troubleshooting, and RAMS analysis.
  • Willingness to work on large regional projects.
  • Ability to analyze vehicle systems and interpret specifications, drawings, and schematics.
  • Availability for short trips (more than 60%).
Desired Skills/Knowledge
  • Experience in railway fleet maintenance engineering.
  • Knowledge of Rail Train Subsystems (Automatic Train Supervision, Vehicles, Telecommunication, etc.).
  • Understanding of software configuration management and programming logic.
  • Experience with statistical analysis programs.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and operation processes, ECM projects, signaling principles, and spare parts analysis.
Education / Qualifications

Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, or System Engineering qualifications or equivalent technical background.

Languages

English proficiency required.
