Description

The opportunity

As Machinery Safety Engineer, you will report directly to the HUB HSE Manager (Europe) and act as a technical lead and subject matter expert for machine risk assessment, functional safety for machinery, and machine safeguarding according to industry standards (regional/local) and internal business standards.

We seek a professional with a holistic view who understands the complexities of change and project management processes. You will collaborate closely with regional and factory operations teams, actively participating in decision-making to advise and support the implementation of safety-critical controls for industrial machinery capital projects and upgrades.

You will lead efforts in identifying and sharing best practices, evaluating, and developing local machine safety competencies.

How you'll make an impact

  1. Lead risk assessment initiatives and risk mitigation in machine safety.
  2. Support organizational capability building through machine safety training and technical competency development at local sites.
  3. Oversee the deployment strategy for successful cross-functional implementation of internal standards related to machine safety.
  4. Assist in incident investigations (near misses, injuries) to determine root causes and develop corrective actions.
  5. Support emergency response and containment actions related to machine safety.
  6. Promote continuous improvement of the machine safety process by collaborating with site, functional, and business leaders.
  7. Provide technical safety advice and risk reviews for capital projects involving machinery, tools, and equipment, working with global experts and suppliers.
  8. Assist in defining scopes for preventive maintenance plans on machinery and equipment.
  9. Willingness to travel regionally to support local sites.

Your background

  1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering (HSE education or similar experience is desirable).
  2. Understanding of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, ISO 12100:2010, and fundamental safety design principles.
  3. Over 5 years of regional experience in machine safety process management, risk assessment, and design.
  4. Experience reading and designing electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic diagrams.
  5. Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  6. Proactive mindset with decision-making capabilities.
  7. Excellent communication and influencing skills across organizational levels.
  8. Willingness to travel and broaden experience.
  9. Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
