Job summary

Safe Place for Youth seeks an LGBTQ Coordinator to lead a comprehensive, affirming program for LGBTQ foster and transitional‑age youth across Los Angeles. You will build staff capacity, provide mentorship, and partner with local organizations to expand safe spaces and resources.

The role emphasizes training, allyship development, and culturally responsive support to about 1,000 youth SPY serves annually, with on-site operations at Venice center and regular events.

Qualifications

• Experience with LGBTQ+ individuals in social services or related settings.
• Direct service to youth and knowledge of affirming practices.
• Trauma-informed approach is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead weekly Queer Joy group sessions (5–15 youth).
• Develop LGBTQ-specific resource lists and referrals.
• Create safe, affirming environments for youth.
• Collaborate with community partners (LA Pride, LA LGBT Center).
• Support staff with cultural competency and trauma-informed practices.
• Plan site-wide events to foster belonging and outreach.
• Provide warm referrals for housing, health, education, and employment.
