The Role:

We are looking for a Learning and Development Manager to join our pre-opening team. Reporting to the Assistant Director of People and Culture, this role will foster a culture of continuous learning and lead the implementation of both local and corporate development programs. You will play a key role in building organizational capability, enhancing employee experience, and supporting performance through learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be a part of the pre-opening team! Responsible for all pre-opening training needs and achievement of pre-opening training milestones.
  • Design and implement learning strategies aligned with hotel and corporate goals
  • Facilitate leadership, team development, and upskilling programs across departments
  • Lead onboarding initiatives to ensure a smooth integration of new hires for all levels.
  • Identify training needs through data analysis, feedback, and business performance
  • Champion a culture of service excellence and lifelong learning
  • Act as a strategic business partner to both operational and leadership teams
  • Integrate digital learning tools and blended learning methods where appropriate
  • Support a coaching culture and contribute to talent development initiatives
  • Support Learning Planning; Act as the liaison with third party vendors and property champions on systems training and execution, schedules for all property departments. Create and produce an annual Learning Needs Analysis that will help to design solutions for the property’s learning needs and evaluate the effect of training programs and initiatives by measuring results.
  • Create, manage, and host Leadership training.
  • Budget; Manage the pre-opening training budget and meet deadlines to open the property on time. Manage an effective Learning Budget while working closely with Department Heads to ensure their training needs are included in the annual budget. Responsible for the Learning Budget annually.
  • Identify and implement learning and performance improvement strategies that support the hotel’s strategic direction.
  • Support Early Careers Development for Graduate programmes and Certified Departmental trainers.
  • Plans and executes property-wide change initiatives, including service initiatives, and other large-scale projects related to growth and learning.
  • Training Marketing: Market the learning function’s programs, initiatives, and online learning. Prepare and produce training calendars for the entire property while focusing on both immediate needs and long-term development. Communicate the effects of the learning function through internal communications.

Your Profile:

  • Proven experience in Learning & Development roles within hospitality or luxury environments
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and communication skills
  • Coaching certification or experience is a plus
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into learning solutions
  • Knowledge of modern learning platforms and digital tools
  • Experience in pre-opening or seasonal environments is highly valued
  • Fluent in English and Italian
  • Legally authorized to work in Italy
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Extremely strong intrapersonal skills.
  • Self-directed with fantastic time management skills.
  • Experience in adult education and adult learning concepts.
  • Understanding of People & Culture (HR) systems and how they integrate, such as recruitment, selection, compensation, performance management.
  • Understanding of basic budgeting, accounting and financial management.
  • Working knowledge of Needs Assessment methodologies and learning needs identification.
  • Effective communication and influencing strategies.
  • Effective project planning, including understanding of tools and processes that assist in planning.
