In order to support learning and teaching innovation at Bocconi University, we are seeking a Learning Designer for Higher Education to join our Educational Innovation Center, BUILT (Bocconi Innovations in Learning and Teaching). BUILT is part of R&D efforts focused on teaching experiments and the search for innovative methods, including designing enhanced learning experiences such as high-quality online and blended learning, with effective use of AI tools.

BUILT is a team composed of highly committed individuals with diverse skills, fostering experimentation, continuous learning, interaction, dynamism, and innovation.

Opportunity and key responsibilities

The successful candidate will collaborate with academic staff to map and assess course needs, develop learning outcomes, define teaching and assessment methods, and design multimedia and interactive content using instructional design models and innovative tools. Responsibilities also include creating course outlines and storyboards, training faculty on course design and delivery, and facilitating internal training events focused on hybrid education experiences.

The role involves activities in the following areas:

LEARNING DESIGN

  • Assessing and mapping learning and teaching needs
  • Designing courses
  • Storyboarding
  • Developing instructional resources
  • Setting up learning environments
  • Monitoring and evaluating learning experiences

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

  • Exploring, analyzing, and researching AI applications for enhancing learning and teaching

TRAINING AND SUPPORT

  • Leading demonstration sessions and contributing to faculty training on innovative teaching methods
  • Reviewing and editing training materials on teaching and learning practices

Qualifications and requirements

  • Degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related postgraduate specialization in learning design/multimedia learning
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design, particularly in online or hybrid education
  • Fluency in English (minimum B2 level)
  • Knowledge of LMS platforms such as Blackboard ULTRA and Canvas
  • At least 6 months of international experience
  • Ability to work collaboratively across activities
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects under deadlines
  • Proficiency with Office365 suite, Articulate 360, Adobe CC Suite, web design tools, and ideally Ms Project and PowerBI
  • Soft skills including curiosity, passion, enthusiasm, communication, time management, problem-solving, and creative thinking
  • Experience applying or experimenting with AI tools in higher education is preferred; candidates may demonstrate this during the interview.
