Mechanical Engineer (m / f / d)

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION

The Lead Pant Design Engineer ensures good quality and timely completion of the engineering together the Plant Design Engineers and Designer and the remainder of the Plant Design Department.

The Lead Plant Design Engineer plans and reviews the work delivered by the Plant Design Engineers and Designers, and makes sure the deliverables fit within the projects, the departments and Pentair’s guidelines and norms, including cooperating the with the other department Leads and the Project Manager.

The Lead Plant Desing Engineer assists with the sizing and design of components, structures equipment and systems required for the project.

The Lead Plant Design Engineer reports to the Engineering Team Leader Venlo.

Main Responsibilities
  • Order management : Active takeover of orders from sales & technology; Assumption of responsibility for a safe design, quality of engineering, on time delivery and cost; check of sub-assembly budgets; tracking total mechanical engineering costs; involvement in drafting contracts with suppliers; scheduling and controlling of mechanical engineering work packages – incl. management of external resources; management of project opportunities and risks incl. resulting measures
  • Machine / Component dimensioning : Ensure the correct design of the frames, skids, components and assemblies to be designed – e.g., statics, strength, stiffness of steel structures and performance calculations – by own or external resources; static and dynamic supports for major piping / components
  • Design solutions : Develop design solutions for plants based on the product portfolio; Implementation of the design in compliance with laws and standards / with the required implementation regulations at the place of use / installation of the plant; creation of solution drafts ready for detailing - considering functional, material, manufacturing, HSE and economic aspects as well as evaluating and comparing them with existing designs; selection / design of key components;
  • Communication & exchange of information : Exchange of information with the other teams and specialist departments and suppliers (e.g., alignment of design with process engineering & automation, supply chain and assembly, field assembly and commissioning; as well as suppliers); internal and external representation of the project; internal and external reporting; Documentation of agreements reached
  • Documentation & risk assessments : Preparation of general installation / maintenance guidelines; Supporting hazard analyses for individual machines as well as for the interlinked complete plant
Qualifications And Competences
  • Mechanical Engineering - university of applied sciences or an apprenticeship with corresponding further training with relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of tools such as :
  • 3D CAD Software - Inventor (preferred), Creo, Solidworks
  • Piping design software – Bentley Plant 3D, Autodesk Plant 3D (preferred), others
  • 2D CAD software – Autocad
  • PDM Software – Autodesk Vault (preferred), PTC Windchill, Solidworks PLM
  • PLM Software, ERP Software, MS Office, Special Calculation Tools.
  • 5 years of experience minimum as Mechanical Engineer.
  • Experiences on working in a project team
  • Knowledge of relevant guidelines and norms.
  • Advanced level in English.
