Role Purpose

As an Ansys Lead Application Engineer, you will work with a variety of customers in your application area of cloud / HPC vertical solutions deployment and become a credible advisor for improving your customers' product development. You will lead technical efforts in vertical application deployment, focusing on the scalability, robustness, and performance of our developed solutions. Working at the intersection of IT infrastructure and development, you will play a role in shaping the success of deploying our technology in real-world environments across various industries and guide other team members in scaling our solutions. This includes owning the design and execution of stress tests, refining deployment templates, and establishing best practices for containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and CI / CD integration. Your leadership will ensure that our solutions are production-ready and can scale confidently across diverse IT environments. You will lead multidisciplinary teams to develop end-to-end simulation solutions and help expand our application areas and industry knowledge. By sharing your knowledge and experience within Ansys teams and with customers, you will enhance your reputation and become a sought-after expert in your field.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provide proactive and results-oriented leadership in planning, coordination, and execution of all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, including technical discovery, success criteria negotiation, product demonstrations, and evaluations. Work independently and responsibly across teams and organizations.
2. Engage with customers to understand their key business initiatives, product development needs, and design workflows; analyze how Ansys products can meet and exceed their goals; communicate the Ansys value proposition to senior management.
3. Lead project teams to develop differentiated, reusable simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and deploy these solutions within customer workflows.
4. Deliver professional services by providing customer consulting and support.
5. Design, implement, and optimize deployment architectures using Kubernetes and container technologies, including performance and scalability testing, and proactively resolve system bottlenecks.
6. Contribute to architecture decisions and strategic planning to ensure deployment frameworks and platform scalability align with emerging trends in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and automation.

Minimum Education / Certification and Experience

Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

Experience: BS+8, MS+6, PhD+3 years in engineering software environments; demonstrated use of Ansys or similar software; experience with building solutions using simulation technology and deploying them in engineering workflows; proven customer outcomes and revenue impact; leadership skills; problem-solving; excellent communication; ability to manage multiple complex projects; professional image and business acumen; ability to travel up to 25% domestically; 5+ years of leading application deployments; expertise with Kubernetes, DevOps tools, Infrastructure as Code, performance testing, cloud platforms, and Python scripting.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Additional experience: BS+12, MS+10, PhD+7 years; 4+ years in customer-facing roles; ability to interact with senior management and executives; travel up to 50%; knowledge of programming languages like C# (.NET), Javascript, HTML; familiarity with agile methodologies.
