Role Purpose

As an Ansys Lead Application Engineer, you will work with customers in cloud/HPC solutions deployment, becoming a credible advisor for product development improvements. You will lead technical efforts in vertical application deployment, focusing on scalability, robustness, and performance. Your role involves shaping the deployment of our technology in real-world environments, guiding team members, owning stress tests, refining deployment templates, and establishing best practices for containerization, Kubernetes orchestration, and CI/CD integration. Your leadership will ensure solutions are production-ready and scalable across diverse IT environments. You will also develop end-to-end simulation solutions with multidisciplinary teams, expanding application areas and industry knowledge, sharing expertise within teams and with customers to enhance reputation and field standing.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in planning, coordination, and execution of technical activities throughout sales opportunities, including discovery, success criteria negotiation, product demos, and evaluations. Work independently and responsibly across teams.
• Engage with customers to understand their business initiatives, product needs, and workflows; analyze how Ansys products can meet and exceed goals; communicate value to senior management.
• Lead project teams to develop and deploy differentiated, reusable simulation solutions using the Ansys platform.
• Deliver professional services and customer consulting.
• Design, implement, and optimize scalable, secure, high-performance deployment architectures using Kubernetes and container technologies, including performance testing and bottleneck resolution.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and strategic planning to align deployment frameworks with emerging cloud, DevOps, and automation trends.

Minimum Education and Experience

BS or MS or PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. Experience: BS+8, MS+6, PhD+3 years in engineering software environments. Demonstrated use of Ansys or similar CAE, CAD, EDA, PLM software. Proven understanding of engineering practices, product development, and deployment within customer workflows. Track record of delivering customer outcomes and revenue impact. Strong leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple complex projects, demonstrate professionalism, and business acumen. Willingness to travel up to 25% domestically. Proven 5+ years in application deployment in production environments. Expertise in Kubernetes, DevOps pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins), Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi), performance testing, scalability analysis, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and Python scripting.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Additional experience: BS+12, MS+10, PhD+7 years. 4+ years in application engineering, customer support, or consulting roles. Ability to engage effectively with senior executives. Willingness to travel up to 50%. Basic knowledge of programming languages like C# (.NET), JavaScript, HTML. Familiarity with agile project management.
