The Lead Application Engineer - Centrifugal Compressor for the LNG market leads the technical strategy of Baker Hughes' offerings in alignment with the project team/functions. She/he is the main technical interface between the customer and Baker Hughes during the Inquiry To Order (ITO) phase.
The key role of the CC AE is to translate customer needs, detailed in the RFQ (Request for Quotation), into the most competitive technical solution leveraging the CC product portfolio and technology.

As the Lead Application Engineer - Centrifugal Compressor for the LNG market, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, managing, and negotiating Baker Hughes' technical proposals relevant to CC applications and estimating/ensuring the accuracy of the budget associated with the proposed solution.
  • Leading the definition of the technical strategy of the project, influencing the customer towards Baker Hughes solutions by considering competitors’ technical strengths and weaknesses versus Baker Hughes offerings/capabilities.
  • Preparing, within the required timeline, the most competitive technical proposal at first submission (including design/selection of compressor and auxiliary systems) using ITO tools and following ITO policies and procedures, implementing innovative technology where appropriate (NPD).
  • Applying product and quality policies, addressing and mitigating risks as per Baker Hughes procedures.
  • Leading technical negotiations, coordinating with supporting functions, and attending meetings/presentations with customers.
  • Handing over the technical contract to the execution team in case of an award.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical or Energy Engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in Engineering, Application Engineering, or Technical Sales.
  • Experience with Centrifugal Compressors, Rotating Equipment, or Gas Turbines.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Influence, leadership skills, and commercial acumen.
  • Willingness to work on stretched deadlines with flexible time management.
  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Exceptional communication skills for preparing proposals, conducting meetings, answering customer questions, and presenting technical information.
