Layout & Piping Design & Drafting Senior Engineer

NEXTCHEM, a company of the MAIRE Group dedicated to Sustainable Technology Solutions, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Layout & Piping Design & Drafting Senior Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing and optimizing cutting-edge technologies for the energy transition. The candidate will join the NX Engineering District in Catania, working on innovative technologies to support the energy transition.

The Senior Engineer will review and develop internal guidelines, recommendations, and specifications for detailed engineering of the layout for NextChem Tech plants.

He / She will support the Engineering team in developing preliminary unit layouts and studying optimal piping arrangements for Feasibility Studies, Basic Design, or Front End Engineering Design.

The specialist will liaise with vendors to select suitable materials considering piping lifecycle, safety, supply, and costs.

Key Activities & Responsibilities :

• Optimize plant layouts considering accessibility, maintenance, process requirements, and establish guidelines and specifications;
• Support the Process / Technological team with P&ID, Fluid Lists, and Line List preparation;
• Create general layouts and section views for client deliverables and internal process design packages, emphasizing optimization and value engineering;
• Propose and develop layout optimizations within units to enhance overall plant performance;
• Participate in the development and review of 3D models to ensure compliance with technological guidelines;
• Coordinate with external engineering vendors for technical activities according to NextChem standards;
• Estimate piping material quantities based on project specifics and plant typology;
• Assist in maintaining and updating departmental standards, procedures, and work instructions.

Personal Attributes :

• Minimum 5 years of experience in plant design within engineering companies;
• Degree or diploma in a technical discipline;
• Experience in leading piping design teams;
• Knowledge of piping class definitions;
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken;
• Willingness to travel within Italy and internationally.
