Layout Engineer

Job Description: Layout Engineer in Renewable Energy

Directly reporting to the Head of Layout Engineering, the Candidate will be responsible for the definition and design of wind farms and solar plants, including:

• Identifying and selecting the best technical solutions while respecting performance indicators (quality, time, costs), territorial constraints, and grid connection requirements.
• Managing external suppliers and advisors.
• Project drawing, layout optimization, CapEx calculation (BoP and Grid), project validation, and due diligence.
• Running sophisticated internal models, statistical and GIS models, referring to project best practices, constraints, and regulations (both national and international).
• Developing optimal layouts throughout all project stages, collaborating closely with Permitting, Legal, Real Estate, Procurement, and Resource Assessment Departments. This includes analysis and optimization of turbine and panel positions, grid connection, crane pads, roads, electrical cables, and resource measurement equipment.

Key Functions:

• Planning and defining layout designs to optimize energy output and ensure reliable CapEx estimates.
• Collecting, filtering, and analyzing CapEx and GIS data to understand project conditions and refine estimates.
• Performing layout optimization and geospatial analysis using industry-standard tools and internal models.
• Assessing site suitability considering BoP, accessibility, and grid connection, aligned with turbine selection.
• Conducting uncertainty analysis of CapEx to evaluate project risks.
• Supporting other departments with layout analysis and optimization tasks.

Qualifications:

• Engineering degree (Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Energy).
• 2-3 years of experience in engineering within international renewable energy projects.
• Experience in Layout Engineering and CapEx calculation is a plus.

Languages:

Bilingual in English and either French or Spanish.

IT Skills:

• Proficient in MS Office applications.
• Expertise in AutoCAD, GIS, PVcase.
• Knowledge of WindPro, WAsP, PVSyst, Global Mapper, and coding languages like Matlab, VBA, SQL is advantageous.

Managerial Skills:

• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Demonstrated project management capabilities.
• Analytical and quantitative skills.

Additional Information:

The Candidate will be based at our head office in Genoa, Italy, with occasional travel to project sites across Europe.
