Overview

Join Amazon Project Kuiper's Global Service Compliance team as an LER Program Specialist and help create our Law Enforcement Response Team as we increase global broadband access through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites. In this pivotal role, you'll help ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and support both security agencies and law enforcement's ability to conduct lawful surveillance. As a key player in our mission to bring fast, affordable broadband to underserved communities, you'll leverage your expertise in compliance, law enforcement / national security and communications networks to shape policies, drive operational excellence, and mitigate risks in a highly regulated environment. This role includes elements of program management, business analysis, and communication with internal and external stakeholders of various technical ability and experience. A key part of this role is to identify and measure key performance indicators and help to drive team performance to meet these KPIs.

This opportunity demands a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of Italian law enforcement response, lawful intercept, and the ability to navigate complex challenges in the rapidly evolving satellite communications industry. Though focused and based in Italy (you must reside in Italy), the role will be global in scope and may require occasional domestic and international travel. This role may involve exposure to sensitive and potentially disturbing content, including graphic images, videos, audio recordings, and offensive or derogatory language.

This position may require access to information, technology, or hardware that is subject to export control laws and regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Employment in this position is contingent upon obtaining any required export licenses or other approvals from the United States government. As such, the successful candidate must be eligible to obtain any necessary export licenses or approvals based on their nationality, citizenship, and any other factors considered by the applicable export control regulations.

Key job responsibilities

• Use their deep knowledge of security and LER best practices to advise the Kuiper LER team.
• Be available to testify on behalf of Amazon Project Kuiper as a records custodian in Italian / EU courts to explain Project Kuiper records, polices, and practices.
• Expertly utilize multiple internal tools and systems to compile, analyze, and deliver accurate information while maintaining adherence to laws and strict confidentiality standards.
• Help drive continuous improvement by identifying patterns, trends, and opportunities to enhance operational efficiency in request processing. You will also contribute to policy development and process refinement, focusing on scalability and operational excellence.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with law enforcement personnel, Amazon employees, and other stakeholders, always maintaining the highest standards of discretion.

A day in the life

As a Kuiper LER Lead you will manage the intake, data sourcing and legal assurance activities to support Law Enforcement Requests including Lawful Intercept. You will be responsible for decisioning high judgement requests for all levels and sectors of law enforcement. You will support direct engagement with Regulators as needed for licensure, ongoing inquiries and investigations, and any audits that may be requested. Your role will drive build out of LER capabilities for new Kuiper legal entities, countries, and jurisdictions in support of the Kuiper business strategy and expansion priorities.

About the team

The global team assists law enforcement and national security agencies in all of the countries in which Amazon Project Kuiper will operate. This role is part of the US based team but will support all of the global parts of our LER team. The team operates 24 / 7 / 365 and member may subject to disturbing images or information. Our work is highly regulated and often classified so you may be required to obtain a security clearance.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of legal processes and communications service provider legal and regulatory obligations related to law enforcement / national security, including understanding of legal documents (subpoenas, search warrants, court orders) and law enforcement request procedures.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and procedures.
• Proven capacity to manage numerous complex and time-critical law enforcement requests simultaneously.
• Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently while managing multiple projects concurrently.
• Must hold or be capable of attaining a security clearance in Italy.
• Excellent ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients and customers
