College students, if you are interested in gaining some valuable skills and experience that can help build your resume, then consider joining our team. We are looking for students who have interest or classwork in construction, landscape architecture, landscape design, horticulture, biology, forestry or related courses. Help us install or care for award winning landscapes in the Dane County. Positions are available in landscape construction or landscape maintenance. There is an opportunity to return each summer season while you’re in school with successful job performance which will help get your foot in the door upon graduation to full time employment.

Multiple ways to grow your career in landscape construction

• Building patios and walls
• Grading and seeding lawns
• Planting trees and shrubs
• Installing and serving irrigation systems
• Installing and maintaining waterfalls and ponds

Essential Duties and Responsibilities-varies based on department/position

• Install perennials, annual flowers, trees, shrubs and mulches per landscape plans
• Grade soil to proper elevations, install seed or sod as directed
• Water plant material
• Prune trees and shrubs
• Operate power equipment specific for each task
• Mow turf, string trim and remove debris
• Provide weed control to keep landscape beds weed free
• Use hand tools such as rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, brooms, etc
• Install and/or maintain great looking landscapes

Working Conditions

• Work is performed outdoors

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record
• Coursework in horticulture, landscape architecture or design, biology or related field

Specific Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of .
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Must have the ability to work Monday thru Friday with Saturday availability as needs warrant
• Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand, stoop, bend, lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis throughout the day.
