Land Survey Party Chief

Job Location: Florida Engineering & Surveying, LLC, 631 N Tamiami Trl, Nokomis, FL 34275

Consideration: Geomatics 'College Interns' considered. (Pay based on experience)

Full Job Description: The Party Chief is responsible for managing the activities of a survey crew across various job locations. The Party Chief provides highly technical support and insights to project management for different types of projects.

Job Duties:

1. Utilize survey equipment and manage team members to locate, review, and research job sites.
2. Identify landmarks, physical objects, and land changes affecting the survey.
3. Supervise survey work, prioritize tasks, and coordinate efforts.
4. Review work standards and perform necessary field calculations.
5. Ensure accuracy of angles, distances, and data, complying with regulations and standards.
6. Collaborate with CAD technicians and project managers, providing expertise during computations.
7. Maintain an organized workspace and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
8. Write reports, business correspondence, and project documentation.
9. Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built, boundary, and profile surveys.
10. Set up, adjust, and operate Carlson survey equipment, including total station (Geomax), data collector (Carlson Plus with SurvCE), and GPS units.
11. Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking.
12. Review and adjust survey calculations as needed.
13. Establish vertical and horizontal controls on project sites.
14. Prepare accurate field notes and as-built drawings.
15. Maintain survey equipment, vehicles, and laptops.
16. Follow safety protocols and procedures.
17. Read and interpret engineering, architectural, drainage, and site plans.
