Job Description

Part-time -

Every Weekend - Day shift

Brief Overview

Performs specimen procurement and/or processing of laboratory specimens. Provides laboratory support functions.

Responsibilities
  • Organizes and performs tasks efficiently to meet departmental turnaround time standards.
  • Performs computer data entry, laboratory processes including sterile technique, aliquoting, and phlebotomy.
  • Processes specimens for laboratory testing.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.
  • Follow departmental documentation for specific duties and responsibilities.
  • Abides by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI), with annual training and policies in place.
Qualifications
Education
  • High School Equivalent / GED (Required)
  • Formal training from an accredited phlebotomy school or medical assistant program
Work Experience
  • Less than 1 year entry-level experience; step increase upon successful completion of competencies after a minimum of 6 months training (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers.
  • Responsible for self-development.
  • Working knowledge of preanalytic laboratory and safety policies.
  • Displays initiative in performing duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
  • Competent in venipuncture for all ages.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) upon hire.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, crawling.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs frequently.
