Job summary

newcleo is seeking a QA-focused professional to join the integrated QHSE team in Italy. You will ensure robust quality policies, standards, and procedures across projects and products, collaborating with global colleagues to share best practices and provide direct support.

You will oversee quality management, experimental test control, and M&TE processes, with a focus on data integrity, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Fluency in English and Italian is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of QA, engineering, testing, manufacturing, or R&D experience.
  • Exposure to regulated industries is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001; willing to learn ISO 19443 and ASME NQA-1.
  • QA principles for R&D facilities, thermal-hydraulic test loops and rigs.
  • Quality requirements related to Design Control, Test Control, and M&TE.
  • Quality documentation: experimental reports, technical dossiers, quality records.
  • Document Control and Configuration Management processes.
  • Nuclear design/manufacturing codes familiarity is an advantage.
  • Welding, forging, heat treatment, and special process qualifications familiarity.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and maintenance of quality programmes, systems, and procedures compliant with ISO 19443 and ASME NQA-1.
  • Support internal and external audits: prep, follow-up of findings, coordination with auditors.
  • Ensure activities, processes, and services comply with internal procedures and standards.
  • Support quality-related continuous improvement and lessons learned.
  • Implement Test Control processes across R&D facilities, test loops, prototypes.
  • Verify procedures, test plans, acceptance criteria, and environmental parameters are defined and applied prior to tests.
  • Maintain test records and quality documentation for data integrity and traceability.
  • Implement calibration, maintenance, and traceability of M&TE procedures.
  • Assist inspections per MIP/CIP at factory and test sites.
  • Ensure item identification and material traceability throughout procurement and testing.
  • Support non-conformance reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain quality records and documentation for inspections and tests.

Job description

The role holder will work as part of the integrated, Quality and Health, Safety, Environment (QHSE) team of newcleo. He/she will be in charge of ensuring and maintaining robust quality policies, standards, manuals, programmes, systems, processes, and procedures, and implementing them to achieve desired Project, Process, and Product outcomes. The role holder will report directly to the R&D Project Director and functionally to the QHSE Director and will also collaborate with colleagues across newcleo subsidiaries to deliver consistent ways of working, share best practices, and provide direct support where appropriate.

Main activities

A. Core Quality Management & Audit Oversight

  • Support the implementation and continuous maintenance of quality programmes, systems, and procedures compliant with ISO 19443 and ASME NQA-1.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation activities, follow-up of findings, and coordination with auditors.
  • Assist in ensuring that activities, processes, and services comply with internal procedures, applicable standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support quality-related continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.

B. Experimental Facility Test Control & Data Integrity (SAR Focus)

  • Support the implementation of Test Control processes across R&D experimental facilities, test loops, and prototype rigs.
  • Assist in verifying that experimental procedures, test plans, acceptance criteria, and environmental parameters are appropriately defined and applied prior to test execution.
  • Support the collection, review, and retention of test records and quality-related documentation to ensure data integrity and traceability.

C. Control of Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE) & Processes

  • Support the implementation of procedures and instructions related to the calibration, maintenance, and traceability of experimental instrumentation and Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE).
  • Support internal and external inspections performed in accordance with Manufacturing and Construction Inspection Plans (MIP/CIP) at factory and test sites.
  • Assist in ensuring item identification and material traceability throughout procurement, fabrication, and testing activities.
  • Support Non-Conformance reporting, investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action follow-up.
  • Assist in maintaining quality records and documentation related to inspections, tests, and non-conformance management.
Desired qualifications

Education

Bachelor's Degree in a Science on technical related field.

  • Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Engineering, Testing, Manufacturing, or R&D environments.
  • Exposure to regulated industries is considered an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001 and willingness to develop knowledge of ISO 19443, ASME NQA-1, and applicable nuclear quality requirements.
  • Basic understanding of quality assurance principles applicable to R&D experimental facilities, thermal-hydraulic test loops, and test rig operations.
  • Basic understanding of quality requirements related to Design Control, Test Control, and Control of Measuring & Test Equipment (M&TE).
  • Knowledge of quality documentation requirements, including the preparation of experimental reports, technical dossiers, and quality records.
  • Basic understanding of Document Control and Configuration Management processes.
  • Familiarity with nuclear design and manufacturing codes and standards (e.g., RCC-M, ASME III) is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with metallic materials, welding, forging, heat treatment, and special process qualifications is considered an advantage.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C1+); fluent in Italian (CEFR C1+), French is a plus.

  • Salary range: RAL 28000 - 34000€. The final salary will be determined on the basis of the selected candidate's qualifications and professional experience.
