Job Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Junior Mechanical Architecture Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks in the Engineering Department. The position is based in PISTOIA.
Accountabilities
- Define train architecture and transversal performances (weight, gauge, ergonomics)
- Draft and manage the technical specification of provision, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
- Develop and maintain layout designs for vehicle seating areas in compliance with standards and project needs
- Monitor project KPIs and evaluate design constraints related to Sub-System Breakdown Structure (SBS) activities and deliverables
- Lead structural engineering activities, including co-design and welded parts of carbody components
- Define the mechanical interfaces of the carbody shell structure, and related sub-systems
- Perform requirements management using standard tools such as DOORS
Required Skills/ Knowledge
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience of at least 1 year in projects in the railway industry
- In-depth knowledge of relevant standards and regulations for rail vehicle design
- Proficiency with CAD tools, such as Autodesk and CREO 11
- Experience with requirements management tools (DOORS preferred)
- Basic knowledge of electrics and mechanics
- Knowledge of main office automation software/tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of mechanical design software (Autocad, Creo, Catia, etc.) and IBM DOORS
- Knowledge of Engineering Processes and Railway Operations
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organisation and contribute constructive ideas
- Willingness to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, international environment
- Ability to work autonomously in teams and on projects
- Availability for short-term national and international business trips

Education/Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background
Languages
