Descrizione del lavoro

The Architecture & Design department is responsible for the interior and exterior design development of vessels within the MSC Cruises New Building Programme, working in partnership with technical, marine, and naval architecture teams. Reporting to the Design Development Manager, the (Junior) Architect is responsible for leading the graphic works according to the interior and exterior design development of all vessels aligned to a single brand; MSC Cruises.

The role will ensure that all guest (and crew) areas of vessels within the brand are designed, developed, and outfitted in accordance with product and brand requirements, while balancing schedules, quality, and cost. The architect will follow the project from concept stage through to final delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage the drawing approval process and shipyard deliverables following owner approval of the concept.
  2. Lead the architectural and interior/exterior design value engineering process within projects, liaising with stakeholders to maximize value without compromising architectural intent.
  3. Ensure adoption of standard business processes related to project management, risk and issue management, and document/data management.
  4. Support the Director in Pre-Contract / R&D activities and board presentations.
  5. Work independently with supervision from a lead Architect, thriving in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
  6. Deliver projects on time and within budget.
  7. Develop and refine design concepts under the guidance of a Lead Designer.
  8. Develop technical detailing and coordinate consultant work.
  9. Produce drawings under the guidance of a Project Architect.
  10. Manage and lead the graphic and technical development of interior and exterior vessel designs.
Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Fluent in English (both written and spoken).
  2. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture / interior design, preferably with a focus on Ship / Yacht design.
  3. Strong 2D and 3D drafting skills using AutoCAD / Rhino / Sketchup or similar software.
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite.
  5. Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills.
  6. Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
  7. Eagerness to learn, receive feedback, and grow professionally.
  8. Availability to travel as required.
  9. Existing right to work in Italy / EU preferred.
