Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute General Manager to lead our Italian business, representing our portfolio of health and wellness brands including Swisse (#2 beauty nutrition brand in Italy and #6 VMS brand in Italy), Swisse Professional (recently launched beauty supplements for Salons and other professional customers) and Zesty Paws (one of leading pet supplement brands).

You will be an entrepreneurial individual, who will have senior experience within the category. You will have strong commercial acumen and will constantly look to challenge ways of working and processes to drive performance, grow the top-line and improve profitability.

You will own the P&L for Italy, build and lead a high-performing cross-functional team, and ensure strong in-market brand execution. The role also involves working in a matrix environment, collaborating closely with central functions including Finance, People and Culture, Quality and Regulatory, and Operations etc.

Key Responsibilities:

Ownership & Responsibility of P&L

  • Full accountability for the Italian market P&L, driving top-line growth, gross margin improvement, and cost management.
  • Deliver against annual sales, profitability, and market share targets.
  • Forecast, monitor, and report performance to the CEO.

Strategic & Commercial Leadership

  • Develop and execute the country strategy aligned with European and global business objectives.
  • Identify and act on growth opportunities across the pharmacy and other retail landscape.
  • Ensure strong brand positioning, pricing, and distribution strategies tailored to the Italian market.

Sales & Channel Management – Pharmacy, Professional (salons and others), Pet Specialty and Digital (incl. Amazon, DTC, Social Commerce and e-retailers)

  • Lead and oversee direct sales, while managing externalised sales forces and distribution partners.
  • Drive pharmacy, mass and pet speciality engagement strategies and ensure strong field execution.
  • Monitor and optimize channel performance and customer relationships.

Brand Management & Marketing Execution

  • Partner with EU brand teams to localize and execute marketing plans that resonate with Italian consumers and healthcare professionals (including veterinarians).
  • Ensure consistent and compliant communication through in-store and digital channels.
  • Monitor competitive activity and adapt plans accordingly.

General Management

  • Recruit, Inspire, direct and coach the teams where needed
  • Contribute to develop new and emerging revenue streams
  • Ensure that brand visibility is executed in a premium manner
  • Collaborate closely with the multifunctional team, including Supply & Demand planning, regulatory and quality and central support functions based in Europe. Coach multi-functionally.
  • Set and monitor Sales & Marketing Team KPIs
  • Be a driver of the group culture in our growing H&H organization

Budget management

  • Coordinate the budget-building process in collaboration with the Finance team
  • Track & manage Sales & Marketing budget and organizational costs to support the delivery of targets.

Skills & Attributes:

  • 10 + years’ sales & marketing in FMCG industry. Experience in the vitamins, minerals & supplement category a strong plus
  • 10+ years’ experience in innovation and products
  • 5+ years’ experience as a manager or others handling multiple direct reports
  • Customer facing experience in FMCG, ideally with pharmacy, digital channels
  • Bring fluent in Italian and English, is a must for this role
  • The ability to work in a matrixed environment with – Finance, HR, IT, Legal and Operations reporting into central functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to evolve into a multicultural environment
