IT System Engineer – Service Delivery & Integration Lead

Serco, a leading Space Services Provider that has supported over 50 space missions worldwide, is recruiting an IT System Engineer – Service Delivery & Integration Lead for its Italy office. The role focuses on integration activities and service delivery for the Destination Earth (DestinE) portfolio, contributing to software system engineering across the entire space lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in end-to-end service design, integration, and evolution of mission and software services.
  • Lead or support software development teams and project management activities.
  • Coordinate with cross‑functional teams, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure timely integration and delivery.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation and configuration management files.
  • Support mission data analysis, spacecraft operations, and system troubleshooting.
Key Qualifications
  • A Degree in Information Technology (IT), Engineering, Technical Sciences or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in service integration and delivery.
  • Experience in project management or leading software development teams.
  • Experience in software design and development.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.
  • Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.
  • Experience working with external vendors and cross‑functional teams.
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Experience with containerized applications (e.g., Docker).
  • Capability in writing technical documentation.
  • English Level B2 (Upper‑Intermediate), written and spoken.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Knowledge of container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Experience with System Engineering processes (e.g., ECSS standard).
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and pipeline deployment.
  • Knowledge of Earth Observation satellite data product formats.
  • Knowledge of the Destination Earth (DestinE) programme.
  • Critical thinking and self‑organization skills.
