The position

As the Director for IT and Automation, your main role will be to drive IT & Automation in the Filled and Finish (FF) expansion Italy project. You will report to the Head of local IT & Operational Technology (OT) and Operational Readiness in Denmark, as well as the Project Vice President in Italy. You will manage a team of 5 to 6 members directly, with the total team size ranging from 20 to 40 members.

Your main responsibilities include:

  1. Overseeing IT and automation at the facility, working closely with the expansion site lead and managing project scope, timelines, resources, and budget.
  2. Building and leading a team of project managers, automation engineers, and IT/OT experts. Maintaining communication with the program team in Denmark to ensure alignment with global standards.
  3. Identifying and mitigating risks and challenges, and keeping all stakeholders informed and involved throughout the project lifecycle.
  4. Ensuring a smooth handover to operations after project completion and reporting to the Head of Local IT & OT and Operational Readiness. Leading and mentoring your project team for success.
  5. Influencing the global IT & Automation leadership team to define and execute a harmonized approach to project execution and transition to operations. Building strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, engineering, mechanical, electrical, electronics, or a related field, with 10 to 12 years of experience in IT automation and managing large-scale, complex projects. Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.
  2. Comprehensive understanding of program management methodologies, tools, and techniques (e.g., PMBOK, PRINCE2). Expertise in risk assessment and mitigation.
  3. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze situations, evaluate options, and make sound decisions under pressure. Effective communication skills to convey objectives, progress, and risks to stakeholders.
  4. Experience in establishing IT and automation systems in pharmaceutical facilities or other regulated industries. Leadership skills that motivate and engage teams.
  5. Willingness to relocate to Italy.


About the department

We are expanding our global manufacturing footprint in Italy, pending final approval. Once operational, the facility will be part of Novo Nordisk’s global network of manufacturing sites. You will join DD&IT PS, our in-house IT & Automation Partner, in our manufacturing area, with over 3,000 employees across more than 7 locations. The area is part of Product Supply, Quality & IT, which employs approximately 30,000 of Novo Nordisk’s 70,000 employees globally. This Italy program is one of many Capex initiatives under Fill & Finish Expansions, which also focus on global collaboration across sites and cultures.
