Job summary

ABB Smart Buildings in Vittuone (Milan) is seeking an R&D contributor to help identify, propose and implement innovative technology, software and solutions. You will assist the R&D team daily, applying technical knowledge and staying current with the state of the art, in a hybrid work model.

The role focuses on mechanics, thermal, software tasks from concept to design, implementation, integration, testing, and maintenance, while supporting quality, time, scope and cost targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of electrical engineering and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of MATLAB.
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
• Languages: fluent Italian and English.
• Soft skills: adaptability under pressure, proactivity, problem-solving orientation, accountability.

Responsibilities

This position reports to: R&D Team Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the strategic technology direction by contributing your own ideas for identifying, proposing, and implementing innovative technology, software and solutions. Each day, you will assist the Research and Development (R&D) team by executing your assigned tasks and using technical knowledge in a structured way. You will also showcase your expertise by staying abreast of the state of the art and actively applying this knowledge.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the Smart Building business in Vittuone (Milan).

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Working as a reliable contributor in R&D projects
• Using technical know-how in your own area of competence to solve problems.
• Performing various tasks in the assigned area (e.g., mechanics, thermal, software), from building concepts, gathering requirements to designing, implementing, integrating, testing, technology transfer or maintenance, and operations.
• Supporting the achievement of assigned targets (quality, time, scope, cost), and raising and addressing risks.
• Knowing some of the key drivers for ABB in your own area and performing activities in line with the current direction.

Qualifications for the role

• Education : a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electric or Electronic Engineering.
• Technical Skills : Knowledge of fundamentals of electrical engineering and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of MATLAB.
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.
• Languages : ability to communicate fluently in both Italian and English.
• Soft Skills : adaptability under pressure, proactivity, problem-solving orientation, and commitment to deliver results by taking responsibility to execute tasks and projects, participating within a dynamic team environment.
