D-Orbit is seeking a PMO Back Office & AI-Driven Data Automation Intern to join our PMO – Operational Excellence team in Fino Mornasco.

You will support the programme reporting lifecycle, validate and consolidate project data across business units, and identify automation opportunities using AI tools, collaborating with Project Managers and management stakeholders.

Full-time internship for six months with expense allowance and mentoring, with potential for longer-term opportunities.

Competenze

• Degree (Bachelor's or Master's) in Management Engineering, Economics, Engineering, Statistics or related field.
• Prior hands-on exposure to AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) in study/work context.
• Analytical mindset, accuracy and attention to data quality.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Genuine interest in process automation and professional use of AI tools.

D-Orbit is looking for a PMO Back Office & AI-Driven Data Automation Intern to join our PMO – Operational Excellence team, based in Fino Mornasco.

In this role, you will support the PMO in the execution of the programme reporting cycle, ensuring the collection, validation and consolidation of project data across multiple Business Units.

You will also contribute to improving operational efficiency by analysing repetitive reporting activities and prototyping automation solutions, including the use of AI-based tools for data collection, verification and aggregation.

You will work closely with Project Managers, PMO team members and management stakeholders, contributing to accurate programme reporting, data-driven decision making and the continuous improvement of project governance processes across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Programme reporting and back office

• Collect and verify the completeness and consistency of progress files submitted by Project Managers
• Consolidate programme data: estimate at completion (EAC/ETC), actuals, variances against cost and schedule baselines, project margin
• Maintain and update the departmental KPI set and the summary dashboard serving management and the Business Units
• Prepare periodic reporting packages (monthly and ad hoc) and support portfolio reviews
• Reconcile project data against corporate sources (ERP, time recording system)
• Maintain PMO templates and process documentation

Automation and AI tools

• Map the reporting activities with the highest manual workload and identify automation opportunities
• Develop scripts and workflows for the extraction, normalisation and automated aggregation of data from heterogeneous files
• Test generative AI tools to support narrative summarisation of reports, anomaly detection in datasets, and quality control of the input received from PMs with the support of D-Orbit IT department.
• Document the solutions developed and hand them over to the team, so that they remain usable and transferrable.

Requirements

Essential

• Degree (Bachelor's or Master's, including final-year students) in Management Engineering, Economics, Engineering, Statistics or a related field
• Prior hands-on exposure to AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot) in a study or work context, with a basic understanding of their capabilities and limitations
• Analytical mindset, accuracy and attention to data quality
• Good written and spoken English
• Genuine interest in process automation and in the professional use of AI tools

Desirable

• Familiarity with project management and project control concepts (WBS, earned value, budget and forecast)
• Experience — academic or personal — in using LLMs to process data or documents

Soft Skills

• Ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and to chase information tactfully and persistently
• Self-organisation and reliability against deadlines in an environment driven by recurring reporting cycles
• Discretion in handling financial and project data

Terms

Full-time, 6-month internship with expense allowance €800, company canteen (8€ meal vouchers) and structured mentoring. Possible consideration for a longer-term position at the end of the programme.
