Job summary

STMicroelectronics is seeking an Application Engineer Intern for its Digital Power Conversion program. You will contribute to digital control for converters and motor drives, and collaborate with hardware and firmware teams in a lab and HIL setting.

The role involves designing and testing control algorithms, supporting board bring-up, and applying simulation tools to validate models. English is used in an international team.

Qualifications

• Ongoing Master’s in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Mechatronics.
• Basic knowledge of power electronics, motor control and converter control.
• Familiarity with embedded systems and programming (C/C++ or similar), schematics and soldering.
• Interest or experience with simulation/HIL tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, SPICE).
• Motivation to work in lab and HIL environments; practical, problem-solving mindset.
• English able to read technical documentation and collaborate in an international team.

Responsibilities

• Support design, modeling and simulation of digital control for power converters and motor drives.
• Work on control algorithms (FOC for motor control, digital control for converters), including HIL implementation and HIL testing.
• Contribute to testing and validation of converter and inverter models in lab and HIL environments.
• Help in the design and bring-up of boards and demonstrators, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams.

YOUR ROLE

You will join ourDigital Power Conversionprogram as anApplication Engineer Intern, contributing toconverter and motor‑control solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Supportdesign, modeling and simulationof digital control forpower converters and motor drives(e.g. OBCs, traction and industrial inverters, AC/DC and DC/DC converters).
• Work oncontrol algorithms(e.g. FOC for motor control, digital control for converters), includingHIL implementation and HIL testing.
• Contribute totesting and validationof converter and inverter models inlab and HIL environments.
• Help in thedesign and bring‑up of boards and demonstrators, collaborating with hardware and firmware teams.

Your work will be applicable toe‑mobility, industrial automation, consumer, solar/energy and server powerapplications.

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

• OngoingMaster’sinElectronics, Electrical, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or similar.
• Mandatory: Basic knowledgeofpower electronics,motor control(e.g. FOC, inverters) andconverter control.
• Familiarity withembedded systems, programming (C/C++ or similar),schematicsandsoldering equipment/machines.
• Interest or initial experience insimulation/HIL tools(e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, SPICE).
• Motivation to work inlab and HIL environments, with a practical, problem‑solving mindset.
• Englishsufficient for technical documentation and interaction in an international team.
