Job summary

World Food Programme seeks a Senior Legal Officer (P3) for the Private Law Team at Headquarters in Rome. The role involves handling a broad range of private-law matters, including contracts, partnerships, IP, and regulatory compliance across WFP operations.

You will conduct legal research, draft complex documents, provide strategic legal advice to country and regional offices, and help manage legal risks with integrity and discretion in a multinational UN setting.

Qualifications

• Advanced University degree in Law or First University degree in Law with relevant experience.
• Must be qualified to practice by a recognized national or state bar or equivalent.
• Experience: at least five years in providing legal services, including international context.
• Language: English fluency; second UN language knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Undertake extensive legal research and analysis on complex matters.
• Review and draft a wide range of legal documents and contracts.
• Provide legal advice and interpretations to Headquarters, Regions, and Country Offices.
• Identify liabilities and assist in managing legal risks for WFP's activities.
• Represent the Legal Office at meetings, meetings, and other events.
