The World Food Programme seeks a P2 Legal Officer at its Rome headquarters to provide guidance on procurement, contracts, shipping, insurance and related international trade matters. You will work with a senior officer and collaborate across branches to support the organization’s supply chain and operations.

Applicants must hold an advanced law degree, be eligible to practice law, have at least three years of relevant experience, and be fluent in English; knowledge of a second UN language is

Qualifikationen

• Advanced University degree in Law, or First University degree in Law with additional relevant experience.
• Must be qualified to practice or admitted to practice law by a recognized national or state bar or law society.
• At least three years of relevant experience in law and provision of legal services.
• Experience in LEGM’s areas such as private commercial law, international trade law, procurement, contracts, logistics, transport, shipping, aviation, insurance, construction, engineering, real estate, commodity management, claims or dispute resolution.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of a second UN language desirable.

Aufgaben

• Undertake legal research and analysis on multidisciplinary legal matters to facilitate provision of quality legal services.
• Review legal documents, identify issues, present findings for internal review to support informed decision-making.
• Assist in preparing legal opinions, background papers, and other legal documents ensuring clarity and quality.
• Contribute to drafting and reviewing agreements, contracts, policies and procedures.
• Assist in settlements of claims and disputes with suppliers, contractors, transporters, insurers and others; support dispute resolution and litigation as required.
