Job Duties

  • Supervises inmate work crew activities at assigned ACI work sites and based from the ACI Florence warehouse. This is a floater position and subject to covering any ACI shop or worksite as needed in the Florence/Eyman work area.
  • Coordinates communications between the designated Regional Operations Managers and the inmate workforce regarding shop production needs.
  • Performs pat/strip searches, vehicle and work site searches, reviews work products.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Administers work evaluations and initiates and/or maintains required records, reports, and documentation.
  • Exercises appropriate disciplinary measures as required.
  • Maintains control of keys, tools, equipment, restricted products, and confidential information.
  • Transports inmates to and from various work locations as dictated by contractual obligations and/or assignments rotation.
  • Performs periodic formal and informal counts in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Attends training sessions and meetings.
  • Drives on State business.
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment.

Selective Preference(s)

  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Correctional Officer or professional experience in correctional services or the criminal justice field.
  • Candidates that have been separated from State Service for more than two (2) years will require successful completion of a training curriculum upon their assignment to the position.
Pre-Employment Requirements

Requires possession of, and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued Driver and Commercial Driver’s License appropriate to the assignment with passenger endorsement within 90 days.

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and drug test.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).

Retirement

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
