The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in industrial design, particularly for consumer electronics and a passion for user-centered innovation. Your role

We seek a talented and motivated Industrial Designer for our Wearables team. This role involves designing and developing smart eyewear in collaboration with product development, operations, and external tech partners to create innovative, functional, and cost-effective solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial design, a passion for user-centered innovation, a solid understanding of product functionality, and curiosity about blending technology with design.

Main responsibilities :

  • Design & Development : Support and lead industrial design processes for smart frames from concept to final product, creating innovative, aesthetically appealing, and functional designs that integrate seamlessly with wearable technology and align with brand DNA. Incorporate the latest AI tools to enhance design approaches.
  • Collaboration with Product Development : Work closely to ensure designs are feasible and functional, meeting technical and user requirements while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Coordination with Operations : Collaborate to ensure designs are manufacturable at scale, maintaining quality and efficiency. Consider materials, production processes, and cost optimization.
  • External Partner Management : Support collaboration with external tech companies and suppliers to incorporate advanced wearable technologies, ensuring smooth integration and alignment with Luxottica’s design principles and brand identity.
  • Prototyping & Testing : Create prototypes and participate in testing to validate designs, functionality, and user experience. Support iterative design improvements based on feedback.
  • Market Awareness & Trends : Keep updated with trends in industrial design, wearables, and smart tech to keep Luxottica’s smart eyewear at the industry forefront.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration : Coordinate with marketing, R&D, and engineering teams to ensure final designs meet functional specs and brand positioning.

Main requirements :

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Design Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in industrial design, especially in consumer electronics, wearable tech, or eyewear design. Experience with smart products and user-centered design methods is essential.
  • Design Skills: Proficiency in sketching, CAD (Rhino, SolidWorks), Adobe Creative Suite, Keyshot. Knowledge of materials, manufacturing, and prototyping. Experience with interaction design between physical and digital interfaces is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to design around internal components; knowledge of audio/video tech is a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to balance aesthetics, functionality, manufacturability, and costs.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and visual skills to present ideas and collaborate effectively.
  • Language: Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
