Competenze

• Esperienza comprovata in amministrazione di rete, inclusa installazione e manutenzione di apparecchiature di rete.
• Solidità nel Python, in particolare per l'automazione dei monitoraggi di rete.
• Esperienza con l'amministrazione di server Linux (preferibilmente basati su Debian).

Overview

iLCS Network Administrator — Stipendio: RAL: 30-40k€; Luogo: Bologna; Azienda: Wi4B S.r.l.

Job Summary

Working for a collaborative international team, you will implement and support iLCS solutions for new and existing customers in a way that exemplifies our core values. English must be fluent, to be able to interact with the international team. The work is carried out remotely, even if it could be requested to join the Italian team time to time for brief trainings and updates. You will monitor the existing and new installations, and it could be requested to develop python scripting to automate processes. It will be requested to contribute with new ideas for monitor and control iLCS projects. You will have daily interactions to provide support and / or solutions when required. At iLCS, we strive to bring out the best in each other, so you will be required to educate and train colleagues on all high-level issues to support learning and build team capacity.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize iLCS telco devices used in smart city environments.
• Develop and maintain Python scripts and backend tools for the automation of distributed network processes and sensor management.
• Support and administer the iLCS cloud infrastructure (Linux-based).
• Diagnose and resolve network and device issues reported by users or monitoring systems.
• Perform daily maintenance and ensure overall system operability.
• Manage user accounts, roles, and access policies.
• Analyze data collected from the field to improve system performance and reliability.
• Propose, design, and implement improvements for network infrastructure.
• Contribute to the design and documentation of network and telecom system architectures.
• Configure and support VPN and firewall solutions (e.g., OpenVPN, iptables, Mikrotik).
• Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and training sessions to enhance team capabilities.

Required knowledge and experience

• Fluent in English (spoken and written). Mandatory.
• Proven experience in network administration, including installation and maintenance of network equipment (routers, switches, wireless systems, firewalls). Mandatory.
• Strong proficiency in Python, particularly for automation of network monitoring and provisioning; integration with sensor backend platforms and APIs; development of scripts and lightweight backend components for distributed systems. Mandatory.
• Experience with Linux server administration (Debian-based systems preferred). Mandatory.
• Experience with OpenVPN, firewall configuration, and troubleshooting. Mandatory.
• Familiarity with best practices in distributed system monitoring and automation. Mandatory.
• Basic knowledge of wireless networking principles (e.g., radio propagation, link budget). Mandatory.
• Basic configuration experience with Mikrotik RouterOS. Mandatory.
• Experience in working with cloud or virtualized environments is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of solutions.
• Attention to detail and analytical mindset.
• Desire to improve and innovate continuously.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• At least 2 years of experience in a technical role involving network administration and/or backend automation.
• Technical certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Mikrotik MTCNA/MTCRE, or Linux Professional Certification are considered a plus.
