Our emergency response, coordinated by the Humanitarian Aid Unit, includes multi-sectorial interventions such as WASH, EiE, CVA, Food Security, and Protection. We also work in protracted crises, providing humanitarian aid through prevention, emergency relief, and rehabilitation approaches.

Job Description

WeWorld is seeking a Humanitarian Aid Response Coordinator to join the Humanitarian Aid Unit within the IPD team at HQ. The main goal is to strengthen and implement our humanitarian response efforts, contributing to the objectives of the Humanitarian Aid Unit. The role involves spending up to 50% of time on the field, with short deployments up to 4 weeks.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Strengthen the organization’s emergency capacities
  2. Establish new emergency responses
  3. Develop humanitarian proposals
  4. Act as Country Representative / Country Head of Programme when needed
Strengthening Emergency Capacities

Under the guidance of the Head of Humanitarian Aid Unit, the coordinator will enhance emergency capacities by fostering a humanitarian culture, building capacity, and increasing global recognition. Responsibilities include:

  • Capacity building on humanitarian issues
  • Standardizing and customizing emergency tools
  • Reviewing and updating emergency strategies
  • Developing emergency preparedness and response plans
  • Creating internal procedures, policies, manuals, and guidelines
Setting Up Emergency Responses

The coordinator is responsible for establishing new emergency responses as needed. This involves deploying to various contexts worldwide, supporting response activities, and assuming leadership roles as required.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Program and support management
  • Team management
  • Internal coordination
  • Representation and advocacy
  • Reporting, fundraising, and communication
  • Project development
  • Security and risk management
  • Developing humanitarian proposals
Strategic and Fundraising Responsibilities

The coordinator will work with management and development departments to ensure continuity, quality, and sustainability of programs. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading or supporting project design and proposal submissions for institutional and public funding
  • Developing project budgets aligned with organizational priorities
  • Preparing assessments and other documentation for proposals
  • Monitoring funding streams for emergency responses
  • Representing the organization in fundraising efforts with donors
Acting as Country Leader

When necessary, the coordinator will serve as acting Country Representative or Head of Programmes during short deployments, ensuring the continuity and quality of organizational activities at the country level, including budget and human resources management.
