HSE Senior Specialist (focus O&M) - Italy, EMEA, RE Department

Reporting to: Sr. Manager Global Health & Safety Operations

Responsibilities

• Act as delegato della sicurezza on behalf of the employer for O&M business unit entities.
• Ensure adherence to all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, with regular reviews, updates, and communication.
• Document, investigate, and implement improvements for all accidents.
• Conduct safety inspections, manage fire drills, alarms, risk assessments, and lone working procedures, and ensure employee awareness.
• Support investigations on critical H&S issues and drive solutions.
• Engage engineering and procurement in supplier evaluation and develop H&S plans for projects and suppliers.
• Complete risk assessments and job hazard analyses supporting site activities.
• Ensure personnel receive adequate H&S training and awareness.
• Prepare statistical data to identify H&S trends.
• Review and audit contractor H&S programs for compliance.
• Assist project teams with technical responses on H&S issues.
• Monitor and improve Customer / Owner Satisfaction related to H&S.
• Develop and support a robust H&S program for O&M teams, especially for solar and battery storage plants.
• Document and maintain processes via the Document Control system.
• Administer NCR reporting, ensuring prompt investigation and closure.
• Support Lessons Learned initiatives and oversee site H&S requirements.
• Lead investigations and drive corrective actions in collaboration with Project Teams.
• Interpret engineering drawings and standards to ensure H&S compliance.
• Manage internal audit programs, provide training, and coach audit teams.

Work Experience

• At least 3-5 years of OHS experience in construction, industrial processing, or related fields.
• College diploma or university degree in OHS or related field.
• Specific training in Environmental, Health & Safety per current legislation.
• Knowledge of lithium-ion batteries, high voltage electrical equipment, ARC flash, and construction safety preferred.
• Certifications such as CSP or CMIOSH are assets.
• Experience with work platforms, management systems, and practical OHS knowledge on topics like hoisting, rigging, fall protection, excavation, electrical safety, confined spaces, etc.
• Understanding of local, national, and European OHS legislative requirements and standards.
• Excellent communication skills, including listening and interpreting business needs.

• Ability to drive process and product H&S control, with experience in lean manufacturing, Lean, or Six Sigma as assets.
• Professional demeanor, dependable, detail-oriented, and trustworthy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and cloud-based software.

• Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
