ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Operations Director and in strong connection with the Group, he/she will lead and manage all aspects of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance and performance across the organization, ensuring a safe workplace and sustainable operations in line with industry regulations, company standards and certification requirements. The HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) culture is deeply embedded in the values and practices of the Avril Group. Every activity is carried out in compliance with some of the highest safety standards in the industry, with the goal of protecting people, the environment, and company assets. The Group fosters a culture of prevention by investing in continuous training, internal audits, advanced technologies, and proactive monitoring systems. Leadership is actively engaged in promoting safe behaviors, and every employee is expected to contribute with responsibility and awareness. RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, KPI and programs tailored to food production environments.
  • Ensure compliance with national health and safety regulations, including ISO 45001, environmental standards and sustainability.
  • Maintain and strengthen the safety and environmental documentation system daily and manage the second- and third-part audit.
  • Ensure compliance with the annual safety and environmental budget.
  • Propose and directly manage safety projects, coordinating internal and external resources.
  • Ensure timelines and targets are met.
  • Conduct risk assessment and audits across production sites, offices and external area.
  • Lead incident investigations RCA and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility through training and awareness campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, Operations, HR) to integrate HSE into daily operations.
  • Manage waste disposal, pollution control, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Being responsible for Rentri updating and management.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting for regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree: A minimum of a bachelor's degree is essential, preferably in a core engineering field like mechanical, chemical, civil, or industrial engineering. Degrees in environmental health or other science-related programs can also be suitable.
  • Professional Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a similar position in companies with very high HSE standard and with a mature culture.
  • Certification: Possession of the certification as Head of the Prevention and Protection Service (RSPP), as required by Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008, is a mandatory requirement.
  • Safety Management Systems: Knowledge of implementing and managing health, safety, and environment (HSE) management systems, including standards like ISO is crucial.
  • Risk Management: The ability to conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and investigate incidents to determine root causes is a core skill.
  • Legal & Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with national HSE regulations and standards is vital for ensuring compliance.
  • Communication & Leadership: Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are necessary, as is the ability to lead teams and manage HSE issues effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with relevant software and Microsoft Office is expected.
