Description

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated HSE Advisor who can demonstrate their potential in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks related to the integration and validation of mechanical systems for our railway vehicles. The position is based in Naples.

MISSION

Support HSE and achieve corporate goals related to health, safety, and environment.

We are looking for a qualified HSE Advisor to oversee safety at Hitachi Rail construction sites, support the HSE function, and help meet health, safety, and environmental objectives.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to establishing, documenting, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving the Local HSE Management System in compliance with International Standards, Local Procedures, and contractual requirements.
  • Supervise the implementation of Hitachi activities on projects in accordance with HSE Policies, legislative HSE requirements, customer HSE requirements, and the HSE management system.
  • Identify risks and hazards, collaborate on risk assessment, and determine necessary control measures according to applicable HSE legislation, customer requirements, and the HSE Management System.
  • Conduct audits and inspections in compliance with legislative HSE requirements.
  • Implement HSE Programs to achieve HSE objectives and targets.
  • Manage external HSE resources appointed on-site.
  • Participate in identifying HSE training needs and conduct HSE training according to the Training Program.
  • Assist during bidding phases in identifying legal requirements.
  • Define and update procedures for managing potential emergency situations.
  • Monitor, report, and communicate HSE performance and implement solutions in case of negative trends.
  • Investigate and analyze incidents and near misses related to HSE.
  • Identify non-conformities and ensure corrective / preventive actions are taken to mitigate and prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate on implementing appropriate documentation for annual management review meetings.
  • Manage HSE aspects at production facilities.

Performance Criteria

  • Timely delivery of HSE documents and quality assurance.
  • HSE risk assessment and management.
  • Management of audit and inspection processes.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Willingness to travel frequently within Italy.
  • Degree in civil, environmental, occupational safety engineering, or a similar technical field (or qualified HSE Master’s degree).
  • Deep knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially related to construction sites.
  • Thorough understanding of ISO 45001 and 14001 standards.
  • Certification as a Prevention and Protection Service Officer (ASPP) with Modules A and B (D.Lgs. 81 / 08) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Experience managing HSE on construction sites, with focus on High Speed, Mass Transit, Railways.
  • Excellent knowledge of Windows OS and Office Suite.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and training skills.
  • At least 3 years of experience in workplace safety.
  • English proficiency at B2 level.
  • Proactive attitude and ability to adapt quickly to new situations and challenges.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Professional certifications in HSE (CSE), ISO 45001-14001 auditors.

Desired Skills & Knowledge

  • Lead Auditor certification for ISO 45001-14001 standards.
  • Previous experience managing HSE at industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of railway safety regulations.
  • Organizational techniques and understanding of company processes.
  • Knowledge of cost estimation and budgeting.
  • Familiarity with safety management tools and HSE reporting software.
