APCO Italy is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to be based in either our Milan or Rome office, to support the Italian client-facing and corporate teams. The HR Generalist will partner with regional management and the global HR team to provide full operational HR support as required by the business. The role offers a great opportunity to partner with our highly ambitious and newly appointed MD and Deputy MD, who have plans to continue the great success of APCO Italy over the last few years.

As well as being a key partner to the Italian leadership team and 50+ staff, you will also be part of a wider European and Global HR Team. The role is a day-to-day stand-alone position, so we require someone who is a true generalist and who has the ability to work autonomously, drive initiatives and be comfortable being the daily point of contact for stakeholders and colleagues.

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Primary point of contact for assigned internal client groups, managing and delivering an excellent HR service
  • Provide support, trusted advice and challenge to clients
  • Advise managers and employees on local business requirements and legal compliance
  • Work closely with the admin team and external providers to ensure compliance with local legislation
  • Coach and advise employees and line managers on a day to day basis in effective people management
  • Consult on and implement HR strategy together with HR Director and Chief Talent Officer
  • Manage day to day HR operations, including monthly payroll and compensation and benefits
  • Manage employee relations issues
  • Manage recruitment budgets and work closely with talent acquisition team to ensure positions are filled
  • Deliver effective on-boarding and exit procedures
  • Manage intercompany transfers in coordination with global HR team and Global Mobility
  • Deliver employee training and on-boarding event management
  • Support delivery of HR projects and change initiatives in line with global HR strategy
  • Develop a deep understanding of the client group, their strategic priorities and commercial challenges
  • Proactive collaboration with other members of Talent team to share best practice and knowledge across the wider team
  • Requirements
  • Fluency in Italian and English is essential
  • Solid HR experience in a commercial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to consult, influence, and partner with leaders
  • ER experience and the ability to resolve complex HR issues
  • Numerate and comfortable with updating salary forecast spreadsheets and liaising with Finance on budget issues
  • Degree or equivalent experience in a related field desired
  • Excellent teamwork
  • Forward planning approach, attention to detail, commercially aware
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity
  • Proactive, highly motivated and results-focused
  • Understanding of Italian employment law essential
  • Some travel may be required
