Job summary

ZURU is seeking a product-driven engineer to own native mobile app development in Italy. You will build and ship ZURU's consumer mobile apps on iOS and Android, and be the in-house reference for how native apps should be built — including reviewing and gating code produced by AI agents or by other developers, so we always have someone who truly understands what is happening under the hood.

Qualifications

• Solid hands-on experience with native iOS development in Swift (SwiftUI / UIKit).
• Working knowledge of native Android development in Kotlin.
• Strong product sense and ability to work autonomously across the full lifecycle of an app.
• Daily use of AI coding tools and the judgement to review their output.

• Design, build and ship native mobile apps for iOS and Android, from prototype to store release.
• Own the native mobile technology area: architecture, tooling, build and release pipelines, store submission.
• Review and quality-gate native code, including code generated with AI coding agents, and fix it when it goes wrong.
• Work directly with product designers and product owners to shape features, requirements and user experience.
• Rapidly prototype new product ideas and turn the successful ones into production-quality apps.
• Advise the wider team on native vs. cross-platform trade-offs and on mobile best practices.

About The Role

We are looking for a product‑driven engineer to own native mobile app development in Italy. You will build and ship ZURU's consumer mobile apps on iOS and Android, and be the in‑house reference for how native apps should be built — including reviewing and gating code produced by AI agents or by other developers, so we always have someone who truly understands what is happening under the hood.

Responsibilities

You are a multi‑hat developer with an entrepreneurial streak: an indie / solo developer or ex‑startup engineer who has built several apps end to end and published them on the App Store and Google Play. You know the app‑development world first‑hand, you think about the product and the user as much as the code, and you are used to making decisions on your own.

• Design, build and ship native mobile apps for iOS (Swift) and Android, from first prototype to store release.

Must‑have

• Solid, hands‑on experience with native iOS development in Swift (SwiftUI / UIKit).
• Working knowledge of native Android development in Kotlin.
• Strong product sense and the ability to work autonomously across the full lifecycle of an app.
• Daily, fluent use of AI coding tools and the judgement to review their output critically.

Nice to have

• Experience with React Native or other cross‑platform frameworks, and a clear view of when to use them.
• Startup or founder experience, or having run your own apps as a business.
• Experience integrating apps with connected devices / hardware (e.g. cameras, Bluetooth).
• Familiarity with a Node.js backend stack.
