Overview

Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles “last mile” delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. Keeping our people safe and well at work is a top priority at Amazon. We’re seeking a driven Workplace Health & Safety Manager to drive improvements on-site and at a regional level, maintain high safety standards, and foster a culture of safety and inclusivity. You will be an experienced, innovative, and proactive Health and Safety professional who is passionate about the field and able to engage stakeholders across operations and support functions. You will report into the Regional Workplace Health and Safety Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the delivery of safety performance and monitoring, in line with personnel, team and functional goals, and ensuring WHS systems are kept accurate with completed incident reports and supporting documentation.
  • Supporting the implementation of WHS programs within Operations while delivering key risk assessment activities and promoting compliance with local and EU legislation.
  • Contributing to requests for improvement of on-site safety and positively impacting accident trends.
  • Managing on-site teams while regularly collaborating with other teams across the company.
  • Using internal reporting tools to analyse data, root causes, and provide leadership with information to support safety-related decisions.
  • Providing guidance and arrangements for health and safety projects and policies.
  • Driving programmes designed to improve the safety culture in Amazon.
  • Participating in Safety Audit Programs.
  • Arranging and conducting basic surveys and checks in the Delivery stations environment, reviewing facility processes, health and safety supplies, and employee behaviours.
  • Flexibility to travel to support at different locations in Italy as needed (position requires up to 50% travel time with on-site auditing responsibilities).

Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) plays a crucial role in keeping our people mentally and physically well at work. Our team works with managers, associates and local governments across our sites to ensure compliance with Amazon’s policies and legal regulations, and to maintain safe workplaces. There are opportunities within the team from Health and Safety Technicians to Program Managers. You’ll contribute to developing, implementing and upholding our high safety and wellbeing standards through diverse projects with colleagues from across the business, including equipment and process inspections and assessments of processes, building and equipment design.

Basic Qualifications
  • Education to a degree level and ASPP or RSPP certified
  • Relevant experience managing a team
  • Relevant experience complying with local Health and Safety legislation
  • Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Lean, 5S and Kaizen methodologies
  • Qualifications or experience in sustainability
  • Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
  • Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH) to support people management
  • Experience communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership
