About the Role

This is a high-impact position, ideal for a proactive and strategic QHSEW professional who thrives in a global, multi-site facilities management environment with a strong focus on compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

As part of the H&S Consultancy Team, you will support the contract by providing advice on statutory compliance, ensuring contractors work safely, and applying the Macro Group’s minimum safety requirement across the EMEA Project in 21 countries.

In this role, you will provide legislative insight, Quality, Health, Safety and Environment Project and operational support through ownership, management, monitoring, analysis, development and management of statutory inspections on the Client H&S Consultancy contract within the EMEA covering 21 countries.

Key Responsibilities will include :

  • Assist with the planning and operations while ensuring Macro supply chain complies with scheduled statutory inspections.
  • Review RAMS, Prevention Plans, JHAs, DVRIs, RI&E, and all contractor Risk Assessments to ensure H&S risks are controlled, preventing accidents and incidents.
  • Liaise with local clients and associated contractors in planning various technical equipment inspections, ensuring smooth operations of allocated assignments.
  • Plan tasks using the client’s CAFM system (Service Channel) and ensure job cards are issued to associated contractors.
  • Ensure that statutory inspection regimes are fit for purpose and adhere to client-agreed compliance standards and legal requirement.
  • Engage with the project Admin and Macro FM Ops Team to ensure reactive works are allocated to the client’s Hard Service Contractor.
  • Ensure robust performance management regime is in place with all vendor partners.
  • Support and communicate effectively with Engineering Compliance Manager and Project Admin, escalating QHSE issues to the Senior Project Manager (Account Lead).
  • Develop partnerships with service sub-contractor partners to ensure their outputs are managed in a positively and effectively.
  • Assist with the proactive management of inspecting vendors / sub-contractors to monitor and report the performance of the services against agreed SLA / KPI and promptly identify action plans for improvement of services where required.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain facilities management standard operating procedures (SOPs) in line with QHSEW standards, ensuring full compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 requirements.
  • Provide regulatory advice to staff, ensuring that all health, safety, and environmental procedures are effectively communicated and adhered to.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to review, update, and maintain policies, procedures, and processes, aligning them with macro-level organisational standards.
  • Manage Supplier / Contractor QHSE prequalification and support onboarding to ensure they are instructed on Macro and Client’s QHSEW values and standards.
  • Manage the implementation of Macro Group QHSEW policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards, ensuring these are aligned with Client’s requirements at local site level.
  • Ensure appropriate safe systems of work are in place with the supply chain to manage high-risk activities (including Permit-to-Work) and support operations team in monitoring the effectiveness of these.
  • Conduct internal audits and compliance assessments, identifying areas for improvement and ensuring continuous adherence to best practices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for QHSEW matters, supporting the Project Team in the implementation of health and safety initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by delivering training, awareness programs, and engagement initiatives for staff at all levels and contractors.
  • Monitor and evaluate QHSEW performance metrics, preparing reports and recommendations for senior management.
  • Lead Incident Investigations, preparing lessons learned and alerts as needed, and tracking actions to closure, ensuring timely and accurate reports and evidence are created.

About You

The ideal candidate will have :

  • Experience within a corporate environment, with experience in a retail or similar facilities environment.
  • Ability to persuade and influence operational teams and contractors regarding HSE and promote H&S best practices.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter, and a good team-worker.
  • Ability to lead and coach others.
  • Good organisation, prioritisation and planning skills.
  • Willingness to learn, develop, and grow within a rapidly growing global company.
  • Competence in the use of IT tools, including MS Office systems (most notably excel), CAFM systems, internet and e-mail.
  • A team player.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • A degree qualification in occupational health and safety.
  • Strong understanding of facilities management operations, risk management, and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of HSE regulations and statutory maintenance requirements in the different countries in EMEA (we don’t expect you to be an expert on all countries but be familiar with the international regulatory landscape).
  • Proficiency in English language.
  • Membership in a local H&S institution with means to maintain up to date knowledge and practices.
  • Understanding procurement processes and issues.
  • ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 internal auditor qualifications (or working towards).
  • Qualification in environmental management would be advantageous.
  • RSPP or local equivalent.
  • Recognised H&S qualification (NEBOSH or Local equivalent).
  • Proficiency in other European languages (ideally Italian and or Spanish).
