• Minimum 3 years' experience in a health and safety role within construction, civil engineering, industrial or technology-related projects.
• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety Management, Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience on data centre construction projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of Italian health and safety requirements and legislation (Italy).
• Fluency in Italian and proficiency in English.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct regular site walks and inspections across active data centre construction areas.
• Monitor contractor compliance with Construction Safety Management Plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Review method statements, hazard analyses and pre-task planning documents.
• Carry out health and safety audits, record findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Attend toolbox talks, coordination meetings and project safety meetings.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions and escalate risks with corrective actions.
• Exercise stop-work authority when there is imminent danger to personnel or the project.
• Support investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses and review root causes.
• Track and verify close-out of corrective actions from inspections and audits.
• Maintain health and safety documentation and project safety files.
• Collaborate with Construction Manager and teams to improve safety performance.
• Prepare regular safety reports and monitor project safety metrics.

JMG Solutions is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Consultant to support a major data centre construction project in Milan, Italy. The successful candidate will represent the client on-site, providing independent health and safety oversight across construction activities and ensuring that contractors and subcontractors adhere to project-specific safety requirements and applicable Italian legislation.

Working closely with the Construction Manager, general contractor and project stakeholders, the consultant will play a key role in monitoring site safety performance, identifying risks and promoting a proactive health and safety culture throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site walks and inspections across active data centre construction areas.
• Monitor general contractor and subcontractor compliance with project-specific Construction Safety Management Plans, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
• Review method statements, activity hazard analyses and pre-task planning documentation.
• Carry out documented health and safety audits, recording findings, non-conformances and recommended corrective actions.
• Attend daily toolbox talks, contractor coordination meetings and project safety meetings.
• Identify unsafe acts and conditions, escalating risks and ensuring appropriate corrective measures are implemented.
• Exercise stop-work authority where activities present an imminent danger to personnel or the project.
• Monitor contractor compliance with applicable Italian health and safety legislation and client safety standards.
• Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, reviewing root causes and corrective action plans.
• Track and verify the close-out of corrective actions arising from inspections, audits and incident investigations.
• Maintain accurate health and safety documentation, inspection records, audit reports and project safety files.
• Work closely with the Construction Manager and project teams to improve safety performance and ensure construction activities are appropriately planned and controlled.
• Prepare regular health and safety reports and monitor project safety performance metrics.

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a health and safety role within construction, civil engineering, industrial or technology-related projects.
• Relevant qualification in Health & Safety Management, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Previous experience on data centre construction projects is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety requirements and applicable Italian legislation.
• Fluency in Italian and proficiency in English.
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits, risk assessments and method statement reviews.
• Knowledge of occupational health and safety management systems, such as ISO 45001.
• Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action management.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with contractors and subcontractors.
• A proactive approach to identifying risks, challenging unsafe practices and maintaining high safety standards on-site.
