Your Mission:

As Head of Permitting you will play a crucial role overseeing the permitting process for renewable energy project including solar and battery storage across Italy. You will ensure that projects comply with all national, regional, and local regulations and you will be the companies representative for interactions with government authorities, environmental agencies, and internal project teams to secure necessary permits and drive project timelines.

What will you do?

1. Permitting & Regulatory Compliance

  • Lead the Permitting Process:
  • Manage all stages of permitting from site selection through final approval.
  • Develop comprehensive permitting strategies tailored to each project's requirements.
  • Regulatory Navigation:
  • Ensure compliance with Italian environmental, zoning, land-use, and energy regulations.
  • Coordinate with local, regional, and national authorities to secure necessary permits and approvals.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Review and verify all required documentation, including Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and other regulatory filings.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of permits, approvals, and correspondence with regulatory bodies.

2.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Liaison with Authorities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact between project teams and regulatory agencies.
  • Negotiate and facilitate discussions with local communities, environmental groups, and government officials.
  • Internal Coordination:
  • Collaborate with legal, environmental, and engineering teams to align permitting strategies with overall project goals.
  • Provide regular updates and strategic recommendations to senior management regarding permitting status and challenges.

3. Project Management & Process Improvement

  • Timeline Management:
  • Oversee permitting schedules and proactively manage potential delays.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with permitting processes to maintain project timelines.
  • Analyze permitting processes and recommend improvements to streamline future approvals.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory policies and advise the team on necessary adjustments.

What are we looking for?

  • More than 5 years of experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, or a related role within the renewable energy or construction sector.
  • Demonstrable experience managing permitting processes for renewable energy projects in Italy, with a strong understanding of the local regulatory landscape.
  • Proven track record in obtaining permits for large-scale projects, including experience with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and other critical documentation Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Fluency in both Italian and English, with excellent communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus
