Business Manager - Portfolio
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the Local Product Management team, reporting to the Local Business Line Manager and collaborating with the Global Product and Portfolio Manager (GPM) to optimize the offering portfolio and maximize return on investment. You will ensure that ABB fully understands market requirements within a specific area and successfully translates them into offering specifications and development initiatives. You will be responsible for driving the long-term profitable growth of the offering. Additionally, you will support business outcomes by managing all aspects of the offering lifecycle, including development, launch, maintenance, pricing, and profitability.
The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid. This role contributes to the Distribution Solutions Division within the Electrification Area in Dalmine. You will be mainly accountable for:
- Understanding and analyzing market trends, customer requirements, competitor landscape, and product positioning.
- Providing sales support, including customer meetings and trade shows on request.
- Preparing product training materials and delivering trainings.
- Supporting the GPM on market communication strategies, including product launches.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Engineering, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality) to ensure product feasibility and customer satisfaction and to maximize competitiveness and profitability.
- Managing the technical specification of the products and supporting the business case preparation for offering developments, maintenance, and cost reductions.
- Contributing actively to the lifecycle management process, proposing offering obsolescence and end-of-life strategies to meet current and future requirements and maximize profitability.
- Ensuring compliance with internal standards, ABB values, and sustainability strategies in all activities.
- Managing the budget and supervising the product roadmap development for assigned projects.
- Providing inputs to prioritize new offering development projects within the roadmap.
- Acting as the local product management representative for assigned projects during gate meetings.
- Proposing and evaluating new product developments or enhancements based on market needs and aligning with portfolio strategies.
Qualifications for the role
- Experience in Product Management, with a proven track record of delivering successful offerings and driving profitability.
- Strong skills in Portfolio and Product Lifecycle Management, ensuring profitable growth and effective product development from inception to obsolescence.
- Expertise in Market Intelligence and Business Strategy, analyzing trends, customer needs, and competitors to inform decisions.
- Proficiency in Process Optimization and Cross-functional Collaboration, working effectively with R&D, Supply Chain, and Sales teams.
- Knowledge of Compliance, Pricing, and Financial Performance, managing budgets and maximizing product competitiveness.
- Strategic Thinking, Resource Management, and Leadership Skills to guide teams and drive organizational success.
- Fluent in Italian and English, both written and spoken.
