Why This Role, Why Now

We are elevating our Continental European franchise and seek a Head of Institutional Sales to lead our fixed‐income distribution effort. We need an Italian‐speaking MD to lead client coverage and convert ideas into revenue. You will own the commercial growth strategy, build and mentor a high‐performing sales team, and leverage your portable client network to drive revenue across High Yield, Emerging Markets, Distressed & Special Situations, Structured Credit, Loans, and Convertibles.

Your Mission

  1. Commercial strategy & P / L ownership – Set the vision and go‐to‐market plan for European credit distribution; own revenue targets, pipeline, and KPIs.
  2. Client origination – Leverage and expand your portable network of AMs, HFs, insurers, pensions, banks, PBs, and family offices; ensure end‐to‐end coverage including fast‐money and special‐sits accounts in a riskless‐principal execution firm (no prop risk).
  3. Lead client coverage for Italy and Italian‐speaking markets, representing the firm.
  4. Team leadership – Recruit, coach, and retain a diverse, high‐performance sales team; foster an inclusive, results‐driven environment; embed a culture of integrity, transparency, and data‐driven decision‐making.
  5. Originate & close complex credit across HY, stressed / distressed bonds & loans, and post‐reorg situations; use hybrids & sub‐Fins where appropriate.
  6. Deliver growth – Demonstrated success in achieving sales targets and driving business growth in institutional credit.
  7. Run your commercial book – Craft ideas with Trading & Research, set pricing, coordinate execution, and ensure clean, timely settlement—without taking proprietary risk.
  8. Collaborate globally – Coordinate with colleagues across the globe; leverage London & US axes to maximise idea flow and capital velocity.
  9. Governance – Reporting directly to the CEO of Europe, this role foresees a potential path to General Manager / CEO registration once the platform scales.
  10. Regulatory & risk oversight – Ensure activities comply with MiFID II, AML, and all other applicable European regulations; champion best‐in‐class conduct and governance.

  • European footprint in London and Milan for seamless USEU idea flow and execution.

You Bring

  • Sell‐side experience is a prerequisite; buy‐side experience will not be considered at this time. Background at a broker‐dealer or investment firm preferred; investment banking experience valued.
  • 10+ years in institutional credit sales (no IG and/or rates) with at least 5 years managing a team / desk.
  • A strong existing client network and portable, monetisable relationships in HY / stressed / distressed / special sits.
  • Deep product expertise across HY, EM, distressed, special situations, and structured credit (CLO, CDO, ABS) (IG / rates flow are not valued).
  • Proven leader who builds collaborative, entrepreneurial teams and instils a high‐performance culture.
  • Analytical thinker with exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and stakeholder‐management skills; unquestioned integrity.
  • Fluent English and Italian required; additional European languages (German, French, Spanish) highly valued.
  • Execution‐first, ethical, and collaborative; proven coordination with traders, research, and operations.
  • Unquestionable integrity and commitment to compliance.
