Job summary

RiseTech is seeking an engineer with hands-on lab experience to own development and optimization of semiconductor processing steps from sample prep to metrology. You will design DoE experiments and drive reproducible results across a cross-disciplinary team.

In this role you will mentor junior staff, manage equipment and budgets, and ensure safety and quality as you translate ideas into reliable processes on our lab line.

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Science, Materials or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
• 3 to 7 years hands-on in a lab, pilot line or process production environment.
• Regular cleanroom experience, and at least one process you can own.
• Semiconductor process familiarity from direct experience: electrochemical deposition and plating; thin films, microfabrication, laser processing and advanced packaging.
• Data skill you can defend: distributions, variability, capability, DoE, in Python, R, JMP or Minitab.
• Fluent English, written and spoken. Italian is a plus.
• Judgment about safety: chemicals, lasers and cleanroom discipline are not negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Own process steps end to end. Sample preparation, wet and electrochemical processes, sample post-processing, inspection and metrology tools.
• Design experiments, not just run them. Build the test matrix and size it for conclusive outcomes.
• Find root causes when yield drops or a dimension drifts; dissect data, equipment, material, and method.
• Turn results into standards; write procedures and best-known methods.
• Own the equipment and what it costs; qualification, maintenance planning and supplier dialogue.
• Work across the lab with electronics, chemistry, mechanics and production.
• Bring the junior engineer and the technician up; bench-level mentorship.
