A leading aerospace company is seeking a Ground System Engineer to work in Rome, Milan or Turin. Candidates need a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering and at least 10 years of experience in Ground Segment engineering for space systems. We are looking for multiple Ground System Engineer & Architects on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Rome, Milan or Turin, Italy.

Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).

The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

  • Definition of ground segment design, development and programmatic framework;

  • Definition and justification of S/S architecture, from concept to detailed design phase;

  • Definition and control of S/S technical interfaces, internal and external;

  • Definition and control of system technical budget and margins;

  • Technical management of Mission Planning, Flight Dynamics, Satellite Control Center, Ground Stations, User Ground Segment;

  • Technical management of subsystems design activities down to component level;

  • Competence in communication network protocols, data transfer methods, cloud-based systems.

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or comparable degree;

  • At least 10 years of professional experience in Ground Segment (G/S) engineering projects for space systems, in Phase C/D;

  • Professional experience of at least five years in definition and design of S/S for EO systems for institutional and/or commercial customers;

  • Strong competences in design and development of EO space;

  • Experience in the definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of DOORS;

  • Use of simulation and computing tools for the definition of G/S performances, e.g. STK, Python, MATLAB;

  • Proven capability to define G/S design throughout the support of model-based methods, techniques and tools (e.g. SysML, UML);

  • Sound knowledge of ground system engineering processes, and ground system and software life cycles;

  • Sound knowledge of relevant ECSS standards ;

  • Excellent conceptual and analytical skills;

  • Ability to devise creative solutions and think out of the box;

  • Proven heritage and attitude for problem solving and project team management;

  • High level of flexibility, willingness to work in international teams and ability to keep tight schedules;

  • High motivation, proactive working approach and strong sense of responsibility;

  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills;

  • Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Some knowledge of Italian is an asset.
